Manufacturing of blown films from thermoplastics is a complex procedure, wherein a multitude of parameters carefully have to be coordinated with each other. Initially the thermoplastic will be prepared and melted in an extruder. The polymer melt will be tempered in the film blowing die head and afterwards blown out through the die gap in form of a tubular polymer melt flow. It will be blown to a film bubble by means of outer cooling air and, in most cases, of inner cooling air also.
For preparation and control of this process Brabender® provides a modular system with drive unit, extruder and a film blowing unit. It simultaneously serves for blowing, cooling, taking off and winding up of extruded blown films.
The new variable system provides the feasibility to exchange the die and thus the die gap of the film blowing die head without exchanging the mandrel at the same time. With these and other developments Brabender® GmbH & Co. KG furthermore contributes to optimization of the material usage in the value added chain of extrusion of polymers.
