Get in gear for Dumbo: The Musical!
Drawing on the success of The Little Mermaid and The Lion King, Broadway producers are plotting a stage production of Disney’s 1941 animated classic Dumbo. The Oscar-nominated feature uietly being adapted as a Broadway musical, BroadwayWorld.com said this week.
“Word around Shubert Alley last week was that Disney was in talks with Stephen Daldry to direct….Let’s put it this way, Dumbo will not be on Broadway in the 2010-11 season, because it’s simply in the very early stages. There’s a chance that Dumbo won’t even make it to Broadway because so many projects aren’t good enough and there’s only so much space…However, this project seems promising…..”
