Elinor Burkett Oscars – a Kanye moment!
Elinor Burkett created an awkward moment at the Oscars when Music by Prudence won for Best Documentary Short.
Elinor Burkett, the producer who was nominated along with director-producer Roger Ross Williams, bum-rushed the stage as Williams accepted the award. The two have a long standing feud, which ended in a lawsuit (it was later settled out of court). Burkett claims that Williams stole her ideas, is not speaking to her and has refused to pass along any awards ceremony invites. She also claims that Williams rushed to the stage to accept the award in order to beat her out – she also says that Williams’ 87-year-old mother blocked her with a cane to slow her down from reaching the stage.
On the flip side, Williams claims that Burkett removed herself from the project at some point and says that Burkett is still very bitter. He added that the academy chose him to accept the award being as he owns the film. He says he was “in shock” at being “ambushed” by her.
How Kanye of you Ms. Burkett!
Yes, she definitely seems bitter! Not a very classy thing to do. So really, no matter who is the jerk here, she ends up looking like the ass. Congratulations doll, you win the award for dumbass of the evening!
