Richard Belzer, “Law & Order: SVU” Star, Accused Of Assaulting Woman

What’s up with Sgt. John Munch? Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Richard Belzer has been questioned by police in New York City after a Manhattan woman accused the 65-year-old actor of attacking her at an Apple Store on the Upper West Side.

This sounds like a case for Benson & Stabler……

Milan Agnew, a 21-year-old aspiring dancer and recent college grad, claims she was busy working when Belzer — who previously starred on the now defunct NBC crime drama Homicide — entered the shop on Wednesday, grabbed her by the shoulders, and shook and choked her while yelling, “I need help!,” The NY Daily News reports.

Agnew immediately called police and filed a harassment complaint, but she claims Belzer walked away with a slap on the wrist — this after reportedly telling officers he was “just joking.” Witnesses, on the other hand, say Belzer was behaving oddly in the moments leading up to the attack; with one noting that the TV cop walked in and out of the store and paced the block several times before “attacking” the store employee.

Milan’s grandmother, Anita McKnight, is livid the actor will not face any charges, telling the newspaper, “She told me, ‘Nana, he didn’t just touch me, he choked me and really scared me.’ My granddaughter is petite, just 5-feet-2 and she’s a dancer so she doesn’t have much body to her. Where does this man come off putting his hands on her?”

For his part, Belzer doesn’t get what all the fuss is about, saying simply: “Perhaps I shouldn’t have invaded her space, but it was clearly non-threatening.”
