Eighties child star Corey Haim — who passed away on Wednesday — had been secretly dating Daisy De La Hoya, former VH1 reality star and the niece of boxing great Oscar De La Hoya.

On Wednesday, E! Gossip Guy Marc Malkin cited “a source close to De la Hoya” who says: “Their first official date was two weeks ago, but they’d been hanging out a little while before that. Corey invited her to the Playboy Mansion. Corey Feldman came, too. … Daisy knew Corey was doing a lot of drugs—especially prescription meds. She thought he was kind and talented, and she wanted to rescue him. She became his confidant over the last few weeks. He told her a lot.”
The former Rock of Love contestant confirmed the news in an interview with RadarOnline.com today:
“We just connected straight away, we had an automatic connection. I recognized that he was a lost soul, we had the same behavior patterns, we had a lot in common.”
Daisy says that the two were set up a little over a month ago by Haim’s old pal Corey Feldman.
“It’s such a tragedy,” she continued. “He was so talented and had so much to offer. He was a sweet, caring, respectful person who just wanted to be loved. Corey was looking forward to the future, he was making plans. He had a movie coming up and he was talking about directing, I can’t believe he would of done this on purpose, it had to be an accident.”
