Rielle Hunter, John Edwards Mistress, Breaks Silence In Interview With GQ

In a revealing tell-all interview with GQ Magazine, former Edwards for President campaign videographer Rielle Hunter reveals intimate details about her affair with former Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards and claims that his terminally-ill wife of 30 years, Elizabeth, “emasculated” him.

Ah — the old “The Home Was Already Wrecked, So I Didn’t Do Anything Wrong” Defense. Very original, Rielle.

“Most of his mistakes of errors in judgement were because of his fear of the wrath of Elizabeth. He’s allowed himself to be pushed into a lot of things that he wouldn’t normally do because of Elizabeth’s storyline….The wrath of Elizabeth is a mighty wrath.”

She reflects back on Edwards’ interview where he denied fathering her child, saying: “He was traumatized. Because he had been living a life that was now exposed. And he does, you know, traumatic things when that door opens. Like Mark Sanford. A hidden life, when it is exposed, is a traumatic event for the person going through it. And they’re not in their right mind. Anyone going through that should never speak publicly. And what they say, if they do speak publicly, should be forgiven.”

Hunter — who has a two-year-old daughter with the disgraced politician — also shares her feelings on the news that the notoriously tawdry National Enquirer is up for a Pulitzer Prize thanks to its coverage of the Edwards sex scandal.
