Lady Gaga has praised Beyonce for her ‘courageous’ decision to appear in the video for new single ‘Telephone’. The pair star together in the controversial promo, which was released on Friday and has now been viewed more than 15 million times online. The clip, which features sex and violence and is over ten minutes long, sees an extensive guest turn from the former Destiny’s Child singer.
Speaking in an interview on US radio, Gaga paid tribute to her fellow pop icon, after revealing that her initial reaction to the proposal was: ‘What’s in your head, girl!?’ ”
‘She was very courageous in this video,’ she told Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS radio programme. Can you imagine me saying to her, ‘OK, now Beyoncé, you have to call me a very bad girl and feed me a honey bun’? ‘She trusted me because she liked my work and because she knew I loved her. It ended up being a masterpiece,’ said Gaga.
‘Telephone’ went up almost 20 places on the UK singles chart this weekend to number 12.
