Emma Watson has ditched her boyfriend of two years for one of her college classmates.
The 19-year-old actress and the 28-year-old financier Jay Barrymore had a cozy little relationship, until Emma decided to concentrate on her studies. The fashionista and Harry Potter star moved to the United States to study at Rhode Island’s Brown University, and the relationship has been on the skids ever since. Emma has now hooked up with fellow Brown student Rafael Cebrian — who she’s been close to since starting at the university last year, tattles blabbed to Britain’s Daily Mail last weekend.
“Emma and Jay were in trouble for months and with Emma at Brown University in America, the transatlantic gap proved too much for their relationship to survive. Emma has been spending a lot of time with Rafael and they are virtually inseparable.”
Emma’s new beau even convinced her to star in a student production of Chekhov’s Three Sisters.
“This is a new experience for Emma and she’s a little nervous about her performance, but the play has already sold out. She’s hoping it will be a critical success,” says a pal.
