Man, 77, dies in West Adams blaze

A 77-year-old man died Monday when a fire tore through his West Adams home, authorities said.Ridgeley Fire2

When firefighters arrived shortly after 12:15 a.m., smoke was visible from the roof of the residence, built above a garage at 2610 South Ridgeley Drive, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

The victim was on found on the ground floor and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released, pending notification of relatives, the coroner’s office said.

It was unclear whether the residence had functioning smoke alarms, the Fire Department said. The cause was under investigation.
