Two former American Idols are set to share the stage once more.
Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken, winner and runner-up, respectively, on Season 2 of the FOX talent show, are teaming up for a summer tour of North America that will featured both vocalists putting their signature sounds on some of the best songs of the past half century.
The 16-city tour, dubbed “Timeless,” kicks off July 23 in Asheville, NC.
“I couldn’t ask for a better tour mate,” Aiken said of Ruben, the guy he sparred with for the Idol crown in 2003. “To be able to share the stage with him again is so exciting. He inspires me daily and I think that respect and admiration will truly be reflected in our show.”
Ruben also sounds relieved to be hitting the road with an old pal. “It is truly a blessing and an honor to be on the stage with my friend,” the “Velvet Teddy Bear” remarked in a press release issued Thursday. “The relationship that we have built over these past eight years will definitely translate into a great show for our fans. And, I’m really looking forward to singing the timeless classics every night.”
