SLIDESHOW:Cherry Blossoms In Bloom

The annual blooming of the cherry blossoms in the nation’s capital bring locals and visitors alike to the Tidal Basin on the National Mall.  In 1912, Tokyo Mayor Yukio Ozaki  presented 3000 cherry  blossom trees to the city of Washington as a symbol of friendship between Japan and the United States.

Temperatures in Washington, DC soared into the 70s, making the day ideal to take in the world famous cherry trees that serve as the perfect backdrop for the country’s most cherished monuments. Thousands enjoyed the day of sunshine and sweet smelling blooms.
