Tickets to the eagerly-awaited summer chick flick Sex And The City 2 are already selling robustly more than six weeks before the sequel opens May 27.

Tickets for summer blockbusters generally don’t go on sale until a few weeks before their release, but Sex 2 tickets went up for grabs at Regal Cinemas locations around the country on Wednesday; the company wants to allow fans of the femme-centered franchise a chance to plan girls night out screening events for the Memorial Day opening. After all, the first big-screen adaptation of the HBO hit proved to be a powerful magnet for female moviegoers in May 2008.
“Women across the country are anxious to plan events and activities related to their evening out to see the film, and they want confirmation that they have tickets,” says Regal “marketing director Dick Westerling. “Based on our experience with the first film, this can become quite an elaborate and fun-filled evening. Aside from purchasing tickets to see the movie, they are already reserving limousines and making restaurant reservations.”
