  • What is Fat Embolism?

The term ‘fat embolism‘ was mentioned in the season finale of the popular TV series House.

“Yeah, she died from a fat embolism, riding in the ambulance after the amputation. It was unavoidable,” said Saul Nutts. “I don’t even know what that is, but I gotta look it up now.”

“She mostly lived until the end of the episode. Had a fat embolism from the amputation. I can’t believe she would,” said Maria.

According to emedicine.medscape.com, Zenker first described fat embolism at autopsy in 1862. In 1873, von Bergmann clinically diagnosed fat embolism syndrome for the first time.

But what is fat embolism and what causes it?

Fat embolism syndrome (FES) occurs when embolic fat macroglobules pass into the small vessels of the lung and other sites, producing endothelial damage and resulting respiratory failure (ARDS-like picture), cerebral dysfunction and a petechial rash. It can be difficult to diagnose. Fat embolism is caused by fractures, Orthopaedic procedures, Massive soft tissue injury, Severe burns. Bone marrow biopsy and Nontraumatic settings. • Is The Great Firewall Of China A Trade Barrier? And If So, Does China Care?

Neelie Kroes, currently VP of the European Commission (and previously EU Commissioner of competition), is apparently claiming that China’s Great Firewall of internet censorship is really a trade issue, that should be reviewed by the WTO for trade violations. This isn’t the first time this has been suggested, but previous discussions never went anywhere. Now, restricting access to web information and websites can certainly be a trade issue. The fact that many of the websites blocked by China are foreign-run businesses, you can make an argument that China is protecting local companies. But, China has a pretty big trump card: it doesn’t care. The WTO could rule however it wants, and China will just say that it’s not a trade issue, but rather a way of protecting citizens from content it deems dangerous — and will then point to Australia’s attempted internet censorship along with things like ACTA, to point out that lots of countries seek to put limitations on internet content they deem “bad.” So call it what you want, it doesn’t seem likely that any WTO action will convince China to change.

  • Amy Adams Welcomes her Baby Girl

Oscar-nominated Amy Adams and her fiancé Darren Le Gallo welcome their first child who is a baby girl. The named their 7 lb daughter Avianna Olea Le Gallo. Amy Adams, 35 years old, gave birth last Saturday in Los Angeles. Adams’ rep said “Mom and baby are home and doing great… Everyone’s healthy and happy.”

Adams and Le Gallo met in 2001. They got engaged in 2008. Amy announced her pregnancy last December 2009 and said that she was “excited” to be a mom.  Adams also said, “I’m trying to work on my relationships. I’ve been gone so long. I’ve had relationships that have been really great and supportive, but I need to learn how to keep in touch with people better, and it will be nice to have the time to focus on other people, instead of just myself and my career. Any woman that intends on having a career and a family, simultaneously, thinks about the challenge of balancing that, and also balancing that with the relationship and keeping that going well.” Adams, now a proud mom, also stated that Le Gallo was “doing everything humanly possible” to spoil her while she was pregnant, “will be an amazing dad!”

Congratulations to the couple and their baby girl!

  • Leftlane interviews Shelby American President John Luft

For nearly 50 years, the best known name in four-wheeled performance has been Carroll Shelby, and while not quite everything he touched turned to gold – hello Dodge Dakota – the Shelby American works in Las Vegas have teamed up with Ford to crank out some especially impressive hits lately. Leftlane sat down with Shelby’s new president, John Luft, to talk about where the company stands today – and we took the opportunity to poke and prod to find out about future Shelby models.

Luft was promoted from within last month after now-former president Amy Boylan stepped down from the position. For the last 10 years, Luft oversaw Shelby’s vast licensing efforts.

You’re new to the presidency, but not to Shelby or to performance cars.

John Luft: I grew up as a teenage street racer in San Diego. When you grow up in Southern California, you’re all about what kind of car you drive. I grew up in the late ’70s and all your friends had different types of cars. I just happened to be the guy that had the Mustang. I raced up and down Valley Parkway challenging all oncomers as we often did back then. I hardly had two nickels to rub together to put gas in the car, but I could race up and down the street.

I was raised with a father that was into off road racing. We had all kinds of dune buggies and sand rails. Speed was part of my upbringing; I guess you could say I cut my teeth on it.

I’ve been in Carroll’s organization for 10 yrs as the president of licensing and I’ve served on the board with Shelby automobiles and I’ve been dealing with every strategic issue from 2003 on. I often dealt with it at 30,000 feet and now I’m at ground zero.

I was always involved in the Ford negotiations because they always involve a license agreement. I’ve been knee deep in it.

Carroll is a veritable fountain of youth despite his 87 years. What is his involvement in Shelby American today?

    Luft:
Carroll will always say that he is not involved and that he leaves it up to his executives to manage, but the reality is that I know it’s a slow day at my desk if I don’t get at least six calls from him.

He’s highly involved and he’s approachable. He calls me six times along with probably a dozen different employees he talks to regularly.

He’s very hands on, even at 87.

We’ve seen other performance brands struggle in the current economy. How has Shelby American fared?

We have felt the downturn, but Carroll’s philosophy has saved us from any dramatic impact. His philosophy is that if you have 5,000 people who really want this car, you only build 4,000. Carroll says, ‘I want to leave that last thousand with a thirst in anticipation of the next car we build.”

Let’s talk about new and upcoming products. Tell us about the development of the reborn GT350.

Luft: The [original] GT350 is the Holy Grail of Shelbys. Much like Star Wars, they launched the original and then did a prequel. So for us to launch GT500 and then back up to the GT350 was in true Star Wars fashion. The original GT350 had some of the earliest history of street performance, and of course the R model was designed to win.

In SCCA circles, the GT350 very handily beat Corvettes. That was the genesis of the Mustang-based Shelbys, so it was only fitting that history repeated itself.

The base model was introduced a few months ago with the supercharger and styling and performance enhancements, and now we have announced the naturally aspirated version . The naturally aspirated car was the result of customer requests. I’d say five out of 10 calls for the GT350 were asking the question, ‘Is there a naturally aspirated version? Or an automatic?’

When you have that type of feedback from consumers, you’ll give them what they want.

We just recently attended a huge Ford dealer preview in Detroit and the dealers were unanimously pleased with the naturally aspirated model.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, are there plans for a Terlingua package for the Ford Mustang’s new 3.7-liter V6?

Luft: That’s to be determined. At this time, we don’t have a new product on the drawing board. We have focused all of our design and engineering efforts toward the development and launch of the GT350.

How much of the positioning of the naturally aspirated GT350 was driven by price?

Luft: Price resistance was never a factor when people were considering purchasing the supercharged conversion. It was really the result of SCCA track potential, which we learned from the Shelby GT, which had such a great presence. And then it gets down to drivability – not everyone wants that blower and that kind of power. Like the Shelby GT, you can use the naturally aspirated GT350 as an easy daily driver, too.

You had access to Ford’s new 5.0 long before Ford announced the Mustang. Obviously there is a close relationship between Shelby American and Ford Motor Company.

Luft: When the book is written, the last chapters will obviously include Ford. I joined Carroll in 2000 and he was in negotiations with Ford when I joined the company. And I think they finished the negotiations in 2004 or 2005. It was a long process [laughs].

If you remember history, when Carroll and Ford parted ways, it was a changing of the guard. There was a certain animosity and at that time emissions were coming into the automotive world and it was time to go on hiatus.

That’s when Carroll spent 10 to 12 years in Africa. Always an interesting time in his life.

So for Carroll to come back today, it’s almost the script he couldn’t have written for himself.

Carroll just came back from a week in Detroit, where he sat for hours with the designers working on the new GT500. They put him behind the wheel, they sat there just listening to his every comment. Carroll, at 87, just amazes me. When he shifts gears and really focuses on the issue at hand, his responses are instinctive. They’re not anything he learned in engineering school, they’re just instinctive.

They’re ecstatic with his involvement and we’re ecstatic with our involvement with Ford.

Let’s dream a little. You’re the man at the top at Shelby American and you grew up around off road performance. Shelby American’s best friend is Ford Motor Company, which conveniently produces a phenomenal desert racing truck, the F-150 SVT Raptor. See where we’re going here?

    Luft:
I have learned to never say never [Laughs].

  • President of Somalia Promises to Appoint a New Prime Minister

President Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed said that he is going to appoint a new prime minister. “I will soon appoint a new prime minister who will have the capability to end the difficult situation in the country,” he said.

The step made was aiming to end a bitter power struggle between the prime minister and the speaker of parliament.

Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur Madobe, the former speaker, announced at a briefing at the palace that he would resign. “I decided to resign today in front of the president in order to avoid the escalating conflict in the government,” Madobe said. “I decided to take this decision for the benefit of the Somali people.” Last Sunday, the MPs had passed a vote of no confidence in the government and they later voted to remove the speaker after the speaker had blamed Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Sharmarke for the country’s woes. The president had avoided taking sides; however, he seems to have organized the removal of both men with his latest move. While Speaker Sheikh Aden Madobe has stepped aside, it is unclear whether Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Shamarke will do the same. The president came to power in January 2007 and promised to create a government of national unity; however, many say that he has failed to build a broad national consensus and assert his authority on their country.

  • Will Lindsay End Up Again in Jail?

Lindsay Lohan will be going back again to court on May 20, 2010 for her progress report. The court will see if she is in compliance with her DUI probation.

As we can remember, On August 23, 2007, Lohan, 23, was pleaded guilty to cocaine use and driving under the influence and was sentenced to one day in jail and 10 days community service. She was also ordered to pay fines and complete an alcohol education program, and was placed on three year probation. If Lindsay has violated the terms of the probation, it could be revoked and she could be back to jail, adding time to the 84 minutes that she served earlier. On that occasion she was released early because of overcrowding and the nonviolent nature of the crime.

However, this year, the court stated that Lindsay is not in compliance and could end up in contempt of court as a result, and this can lead again her to be placed in jail. But what went wrong? What was violated by Lindsay? The court stated that Lindsay is not attending the court ordered alcohol education classes every week, but has attended classes every 21st day, which complies with the school’s policy, but violates the court order.

Lohan’s attending attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley also stated that they have not received any negative report from the program hence, Lindsay is in compliance. Though there have been occasional weeks when Lindsay has missed her alcohol treatment class, she has always managed to make up the class the following week by attending two classes. For that reason, we contend that Ms. Lohan is in substantial compliance with the conditions of her probation.

Holley and Lohan will be waiting for Thursday to see what will happen. Will Lindsay end up again in jail?

  • Miss USA Rima Fakih Seen Pole Dancing on Mojo in the Morning

Photos of Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih pole dancing circulated the internet hours after she won the pageant. The picture is taken when she won a pole dancing contest hosted by radio show Mojo In The Morning in 2007.

The photos may cause embarrassment to her integrity and also to the Muslim community so she didn’t want it to be made public.

Mojo In The Morning said that they have been contacted by people from Miss Universe asking for more information about the pole dancing contest. Mojo in the Morning asked the people from Miss Universe headquarters if Rima Fakih’s Miss USA title is in danger but they got no answer.

According to staff of Mojo in the Morning, “Mojo in the Morning fully supports Rimah Fakih as she represents Detroit and America in the Miss Universe contest. The radio show will not entertain requests to drag her name through the mud.”

Lindsay Binegar started earning by raising hogs at their family farm in Highland County when she was 4 years old. After many years of saving, she had enough money to buy a $40000 house.

Lindsay Binegar is a Greenfield teenager who has been saving money since she was 4 years old. She won $100 showing a hog. She’s been saving her earnings from 4-H competitions since then.

The first time Lindsay bought something with her earnings was at the age of 14, when she bought a purse. The money she saved from the competitions would be intended for her schooling. But her parents give her a deal, they will pay for her schooling, if she stays at home and go to college.

She agreed and decided to just buy a house instead. Now that she’s 18, she bought a $40000 house with four-bedrooms, two-bathrooms with a two-car garage and she paid it in cash.

Her uncle and aunt rents the house for $450-a-month. Lindsay said she wanted to save enough money to buy her personal home with her 22-year-old fiance, Heath McNeal after they get married next year.

  • A Legend Dies: Hank Jones (1918-2010)

Are you fond of listening to Jazz? Or may be you have heard of “Bop Redux”, “I Remember You” or even “Steal Away”? These were some of the great music of the legendary Jazz pianist, Hank Jones.

However, the legend died only this Sunday, at the age of 91. Jones, the eldest and sole surviving brother of the three Jones boys of Pontiac died in a New York hospital after a short illness. Jones, who was admired by most his peers was truly a perfect pianist.

Hank Jones truly is a Legend. He has contributed to music a lot especially to Jazz. According to Hank, “when you listen to a pianist, each note should have an identity, each note should have a soul of its own.” We can see here that he gives meaning to music because he gives meaning to every note. He takes his music in to his heart thus he played all his compositions by heart. He has a unique style in playing as you can hear his music.

Let’s have short biography of Hank Jones. He was born on July 31, 1918 in Vicksburg, Miss., and he grew up in Pontiac, Michigan in a family rich with musical talent. His parents were the one that encouraged him and his brothers to play music. Do you know who Hank’s earliest influence is? It was pianist Fats Waller who played in the bouncy ragtime stride piano style. Jones used to listen to Fats Waller records on the radio before he left for school during high school. Jones also idolized Earl “Fatha” Hines and the great Teddy Wilson, spinning their sides as a teenager, emulating their styles. How ever, Jones’ greatest influence was the legendary Art Tatum. Hank was in awe of Tatum’s energy, creativity, and flawless technique.

Hank Jones was a very big influence in the music for many decades. He has also won only last year the Lifetime Achievement Grammy and had many nominated music through out the century.

  • Afghan Plane Crash – Search for Suvivors

An Afghan plane operated by Pamir Airways, vanished with its 44 passengers as it was somewhere in the Hindu Kush mountains, northern Afghanistan. The plane was on its way to Kabul, its capital. Myar Rasooli, the head of the Kabul airport, stated that there was no distress call. The missing plane is a 37-year old Soviet-made Antonov 24 twin turboprop that Pamir Airways had bought about three months ago. Zemari Bashary, a spokesman for Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry had sought the help of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s International Security Assistance Force (NATO ISAF) for a search and rescue mission.

There were six foreigners reported aboard the plane, one of which was an American and three were British nationals. The rest that were aboard including the crew were Afghans, said the Deputy Transportation Minister Raz Mohammad Alami.

Pentagon Spokesman Bryan Whitman stated the US and international involvement where he said, “ISAF is providing some search and rescue (capability) now for that, in terms of helicopter support, rotary aircraft, as well as, early on, some help in identifying the location that it went down.”

The search for survivors was suspended after dark but is to resume Tuesday. The western military stated that it had dispatched a fixed-wing aircraft and two helicopters to the area but had to call off the search after darkness and fog closed in.

  • Intel Refiles Questionable Trademark Lawsuit Against Newsletter About Latin America

Late last year, we wrote about the latest in an unfortunately long line of overreaching trademark lawsuits filed by Intel. Intel tends to act as if no one else can use the word Intel at all, leading it to get involved in legal disputes with companies in industries about as far away from Intel’s business as can be — including a travel agency and a maker of jeans. The dispute last year, was focused on the small producer of a newsletter about Latin America, which used the domain name LatinIntel.com. There was no way anyone would be confused by this site or think that it was somehow associated with Intel, even using my favorite “moron in a hurry” test.

So, we were happy, earlier this year, to get a report that Intel had dropped the lawsuit. Except… that turned out to not be exactly true. Intel got in touch quickly to insist that they had only dropped it because they planned to refile the lawsuit with much more detail to make their case. What Intel left out was the pretty serious skepticism the judge had expressed concerning their original filing:

    The key lines here being:

It really is lacking in enough specificity which
would demonstrate that there was confusion or that you’re even
addressing the same markets. I mean, my understanding is that
there may be no customer overlap at all in connection with
    this.

Intel, of course, shot back with the claim that this has nothing to do with likelihood of confusion, but it was really about dilution. Dilution is a more recent element of trademark law, which was not considered applicable for quite some time, but today has become more widely accepted, and keeps expanding in dangerous ways. It simply goes against the basic concept of trademark law — which is supposed to be about protecting consumers from buying a product that is falsely labeled. That’s why trademark law is limited to the areas where your trademark is actually being used in commerce. The judge’s point that there is no customer overlap should be all that matters here. At that point there is no trademark issue. At all.

But Intel has, in fact, now refiled the lawsuit, and tries to get around this claim by pointing out that both Intel and this newsletter have customers that are Fortune 500 companies. Seriously. And then it still claims there is customer confusion, despite the judge making it pretty clear that he didn’t believe there was any customer confusion at all:

I asked the spokesperson from Intel who had contacted us about the last post if he could offer an explanation of why it made sense for Intel to continue to pursue this lawsuit, and I got back the basic explanation for why dilution is considered trademark infringement — which didn’t answer the question I was asking. But it appears that Intel’s definition of dilution goes way beyond even the current (already troubling) concept of dilution in trademark law. The way Intel sets it up, no one can use the word “intel” even if it’s already a widely generic term in a totally different industry (as is the case with the newsletter). That makes no sense.

While I’m sure Intel’s lawyers would claim that they have to defend their trademark to avoid it being declared generic, that’s also a misrepresentation of trademark law. You do have to defend, but only in cases where there’s actual confusion or actual risk of dilution. Someone doing business with a term that is generic in that industry, which is about as far away from Intel’s industry as is possible, is not doing any harm, whatsoever, to Intel’s mark. Intel should have just dropped the case and left it alone.

  • Airport Flights are back to Normal

New measures will allow flights for a limited time at higher ash densities.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that a Time Limited Zone (TLZ) has been agreed to operate in the new zone airlines. A spokesman for National Air Traffic Services said that “According to the latest information from the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) and the Met Office, the volcanic ash cloud clears the UK for the period 1900 BST until 0100 BST tomorrow and all airports in Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales will be available during this period. A no-fly zone remains in force over parts of the North Sea which could restrict helicopter flights.” British Airways chief executive Willie Walsh criticized the blanket bans on flying as he stated that they were “a gross over-reaction to a very minor risk”. Other UK airports are now open after being affected earlier are: Teeside, Leeds-Bradford, Blackpool, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Doncaster, Carlisle, Humberside, East Midlands and services in the Isle of Man.

The ash from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland had led to thousands of flights being delayed and others cancelled across Europe since last month. The volcano still continues to erupt and shows no signs that its activity will end soon.

  • What Will Happen When Greece Finally Defaults? Lessons From Argentina…

    roadwarrior.jpg

We hold these truths to be self-evident:

    • Greece is bankrupt.
    • Greece will eventually default.

    So what will happen then?

There’s no perfect historical precedent, mostly because of Greece’s inability to devalue its currency in conjunction with a default. But the Argentina default in 2002 does shed some light on what we have to look forward to.

Richard Thies at Northern Trust offers an excellent snapshot:

In the world of sovereign debt settlements, things have come a long way since Peru settled its 1889 default in part by offering creditors two million tons of guano. While making a great fertilizer, investors were understandably a little disappointed with this outcome. Luckily, the era of debt-restructuring via barter is long past and in its wake settlement terms and processes have rapidly evolved. The largest sovereign default in history, Argentina’s in January 2002, is very close to being settled just 8 years and 5 short months later. Looking at the recent history of sovereign defaults gives some clues as to the outcome of a possible Greek restructuring/default, were it to happen, but leaves many questions unanswered.

Intuitively, the Argentina default is the most instructive for the current situation as it is both the most recent debt collapse by an industrialized country (last year’s Jamaican default didn’t attract much fanfare) and the largest in history at $82 billion. For comparison, Greece will need to roll-over roughly €104 billion ($130 billion) between now and 2013, which does not include additional deficit-financing as needed. Regardless, the scope is comparable. Despite the similarities, the ongoing Argentine restructuring process has been unique, though some of the idiosyncrasies of the process do shed some light.

  • Iran Still Awaits Sanctions after agreeing to the Nuclear Fuel Deal

Despite Iran signing a uranium deal with Turkey and Brazil, the US announced that it will move ahead with its press for sanctions against Iran.

Last October the deal proposed to Teheran by the P5+1 (US, France, UK and China plus Germany), was similar to the signed deal with Turkey and Brazil. The deal stated that Iran would send enriched uranium to Russia and would be returned as fuel rods that could not be used for nuclear weapons; however Iran opted not to agree with the deal. In the signed deal of Iran with Turkey and Brazil, it was noted that the same amount of uranium stated in the deal last October will be shipped to Turkey and be returned to Iran as research reactor that is designed only to produce radioactive isotopes for treating cancer. Iran stated today that it would continue its 20 percent enrichment, with was a direct violation of the UN Security Council resolutions. Robert Gibbs, the White House spokesman, said that shifting nuclear fuel off Iranian soil would be a welcome step; but, Iran would have to give up any further nuclear enrichment and abide by existing UN Security Council resolutions for the dealt to be taken seriously.

Also in the seven months that Iran had not signed with the deal proposed by US, Iran also has processed sufficient extra fuel to give it a “breakout capability” which is enough to make a nuclear bomb even after they will send 1,200 kg of uranium in Turkey.

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki also stated that Iran has the right to call on Turkey to return the uranium “swiftly and unconditionally” back to Iran if any of the provisions in the agreement were not followed.

“What this proposal signifies is less than what they agreed to last October,” Gibbs said.

  • Advertising Long Term Investing with Data Graph Light Sculptures

    bt_bigger_picture.jpg
Most people, when they think of a graph, do not think of something beautiful or interesting. So imagine you need to communicate several dry financial scenarios for an exclusive advertising campaign. In an attempt to visually “brand” the way of delivering information, creative collective The Glue Society created a set of elaborate fluorescent tube installations to display several animated data charts for the BT Bigger Picture [bt.com.au] campaign.

Each of the 4 ads is based on a separate light sculpture, which each was specifically designed to display the statistical information in a visually unique way. More than 40 people were involved in building the media installations, consisting of more than 14,500 light bulbs and 46 kilometers of cabling. A big part of the beauty of these ads also involves the smooth shots and angles of the installations and their subtle dynamic animations.

Watch all 4 commercials, plus a revealing “making-of” documentary below.

  • Stephen Roach: It’s Still All Greenspan’s Fault — But Here’s How To Fix It

    Stephen Roach

Alan Greenspan’s perpetual bailouts in the face of even the smallest crises have made us a world of wimps, says Stephen Roach of Morgan Stanley. And until we toughen up and realize that the world won’t end if we take our medicine, we’ll be doomed to repeat Greenspan’s mistakes.

    Roach’s answer?

We need to have another “Volcker moment.”  We need to announce that we’re going to be raising the Fed Funds rate back to 2% in 50 basis-point increments over the next 18 months, starting as soon as the European crisis has stabilized.

Volcker didn’t kill the world when he raised short-term rates to 19% in 1981–he saved it.  And now we must do the same.

    Stephen Roach in the FT:

The pace and severity of financial crises has taken an ominous turn for the worse. Over the past 30 years, a crisis has occurred, on average, every three years. Yet, now, only 18 months after the meltdown of late 2008, Europe’s sovereign debt crisis has hit with full force. With one crisis seemingly begetting another, and the fuse between crises now getting shorter and shorter, the world economy is on a very treacherous course.

Each crisis has its poster child – from Thailand, to dot-com, to subprime. But they all have one thing in common – easy money. The “Greenspan put” – the notion that central banks would be quick and aggressive in backstopping financial market disruptions – was the short-term anaesthetic that repeatedly set the stage for the next crisis.

  • Why Copper’s Deflationary Slide May Be Just Getting Started

Some good thoughts from Waverly Advisors on the state of the copper market, and why the metal’s most likely direction is downward.

The basic idea: inventories (stocks) remain high, China is definitely in tightening mode, and the US economy will cool in the second half.

Here it is more spelled out.

Stock levels continue to decline, though mildly: LME stock levels, have
continued to trend downward in recent months, although they remain high
by historical standards (see chart below). Shanghai copper stocks fell 8,045
MT from last week to 173,095 MT, with 9,715 MT withdrawn and 1,670
    delivered.

Chinese Tightening Continues: There is increased speculation that China will
tighten rates after CPI for April registered at 2.8%,  with short term
SHIBOR levels trending upwards slightly last week.  Last Wednesday The
National Development and Reform Commission released a report predicting
that the prices of industrial goods in general may decline in the next two
months with Copper specifically fluctuating in a larger range than Steel as
cooling demand for residential and industrial construction are offset by
    seasonally peak May/June industrial orders.

Scrap Market Indications: Anecdotal reports indicate that US scrap dealers
have been holding back  inventory in recent weeks looking for stronger
pricing (lower grade scrap traded down last week).

    They conclude:

Although our strategic view for copper remains largely unchanged from February, macro signals that continue to be deflationary on balance domestically (despite recent signals of strength in ISM price data) and our expectations for moderating US growth in the second half have increased our convictions for this reentry.
