IBL2401 is a remarkably compact intelligent minidrive based on the Technosoft MotionChip™ DSP Control Technology. IBL2401 measures only 60 x 44 x 16 mm and weighs just 60 grams. This minimal size compact unit embeds motion controller, drive and PLC functionality, and it controls brushless, step, DC or linear motors up to 25 W (24 V, 1 A). The drive can be mounted right beside the motor, all cables and maintenance thus being significantly reduced.
With IBL2401, motion programming can be done from a CANopen master via a PC / PLC using the appropriate motion library, or directly at drive level, using the built-in motion controller and the EasyMotion Studio platform. Its embedded motion controller uses the same high-level motion language for all motor versions, making their technology differences transparent to the user.
Using the powerful TML programming, you can really simplify complex applications by distributing the intelligence between master and drives. Thus, instead of trying to command each step of an axis movement from the master, you can program the drive in TML to execute complex tasks, and to inform the master when these tasks have been completed.
Motion modes as contouring, profiling, gearing, electronic camming, PVT are easily executed in stand-alone or multi-axis operations. IBL2401 is equipped with several sensors: incremental encoders, digital and linear Halls. Communication can be done over CANopen, CAN, RS-232 networks, or Ethernet through an external adapter.
All these features – intelligence, miniature size, easy implementation, compact and cost-effective design – make the Technosoft IBL2401 the perfect motion control solution for all high-precision applications, ranging from medical to factory automation.
General Motors has formed a partnership with Hawaiian power firm the Gas Company to test the state’s hydrogen infrastructure.
TGC is the major power provider for the Hawaiian islands. It produces and delivers hydrogen along with natural gas. TGC plans to separate the hydrogen from its pipeline and send it to filling stations for fuel-cell vehicles.
Hawaii is uniquely qualified for this project, announced last week, because it depends on imported fuel for 90 percent of its energy, and the state is committed to reducing its petroleum use by 70 percent in the coming years.
GM has invested $1.5 billion in fuel-cell transportation over the past 15 years and said it hopes to have a fuel-cell vehicle ready for market by 2015.
GM’s current fuel-cell program, Project Driveway, is the largest demonstration of fuel-cell vehicles in the nation. Selected participants and cities have been chosen to test hydrogen-powered Chevrolet Equinoxes for three months at a time. Since 2007, more than 1.4 million miles have been driven on pure hydrogen as part of the program.
What is rent to own cars? It is an idea to rent your own car and it will be yours when last payment cleared. Here we tell you the advantages and disadvantages of having these kind of cars. The rent-to-own program has become common in many states like Louisiana, San Diego, Florida, Houston, California, and among others. It usually brings benefits for people with very little budget but wish to own a car, people with bad credit car loans, bad financial record, as well as some people that need a car but would like to try it out before buying it.
Advantages of rent to own cars
It is basically an idea of walking into some car dealer with the “rent to own” program, choose your desire car, put a down payment and start pay the monthly rental to the car every month in the future. The car will be fully own by you when the last payment was made. Isn’t this a great idea?
It helps people with bad credit history. Some “rent to own” dealer provides no-credit-check where anyone with bad credit or bankruptcy can stand a chance to own a car by paying monthly car rental. What you need to provide is the proof of your ID, proof of residence, proof of income, and some down payment.
Other than that, it is good for first time buyers especially teenager who just passed 18 years old and wanted to buy their first car. Rent to own cars is a good choice for first time buyer as there is no credit history require, repossessions, or even a credit card is not needed.
In addition, the programs will save you some personal property taxes at the same time you stand a chance to own some real nice car with minimum down payment and less monthly payment.
Disadvantages of rent to own cars
The beautiful Idioms say “No rose without a thorn”. Rent-to-own is no doubt a good idea for consumers especially who may rent a car to fill a temporary need or try out the car before buying it. However, there are still some disadvantages and problems with this program.
One of the major issues is consumer protection issues. The biggest concern has included the car price charged by a dealer. Sometimes the car price can be sky high. Try to research the market price for a car you want to buy and compare with the price offer by rent-to-own program from any car dealer in your town.
Besides, the treatment of customers to the car during the collection of overdue rental payments is also a concern whether it affect the car condition. Other than that, look carefully when you sign the agreement. It is often that the adequacy of information provided about the terms and conditions of the rental agreement and purchase option is a concern.
In conclusion, rent-to-own car are not the lowest cost method of buying a car. Consumer with enough cash or willingness to wait until the cash purchase can be saved will likely be able to get any cars elsewhere at lower cost rather than rent to own cars.
Topcar has create the new Advantage and Vantage GTR renovated series for the Porsche Cayenne. Having gained the positive response all over the world for the Porsche Panamera aerodynamic body kit TOPCAR is on its way to develop a fresh package for the new Porsche Cayenne in three various manners: Porsche Cayenne Advantage 2, Porsche Cayenne Vantage GTR 2, and Porsche Cayenne Vantage 2.
The Porsche Cayenne Advantage 2 project is designed to have your Cayenne stylized into dashing off-road coupe. The fresh aerodynamic package includes front and rear spoiler bumpers, extended fenders, side skirts, wide door caps and a new bonnet. Rear door handles will be covered by the wide door caps which obtained two in-build side air intakes. The new rear spoiler bumper has a wide diffuser and air outlets. The newly designed front spoiler bumper and the new-made bonnet with the menacing arrowy lines as well as the extended front fenders will bear all character treats of a supercar. As a result the new wide body Porsche Cayenne tuning package will supply the car with the genuine dashing and wild supercar spirit.
The further special decision is the Porsche Cayenne Vantage GTR 2 project. The car also will be elaborated in the vein of the off-road coupe using Porsche Cayenne 2 base. We designedly left the original headlights unaffected in order to reveal and highlight the accipitral appearance of the car as distinct from the Advantage 2. The whole fresh body shape forms with the front spoiler bumper with wide air intakes perfectly accompanied by the new bonnet, wide fenders and a rear spoiler bumper with a diffuser. The masterly implemented idea makes the car provide an impression of the infuriated beast of prey.
The Vantage 2 body kit assembly doesn’t require any complementary car base work as the Advantage 2 ? Vantage GTR 2 packages. The whole package includes front and rare spoiler bumpers, front and rare fender extenders, a bonnet and side skirts. The Vantage 2 appearance has its own distinctive face containing the wide character strings inherited from the Vantage GTR 2.
To every of these three projects TOPCAR offers new wing mirrors with LED side repeaters. In order to achieve better performance the new Porsche Cayenne engine will be juiced up and get an output from 550 to 750 hp. The new forged wheels (R21 and R23) have been especially designed for the new Porsche Cayenne by TOPCAR.
Under Seat’s new five-year plan, the next-generation Leon will launch its first hybrid and electric cars in 2012. To date, no plan has been mentioned about Seat’s intention to enter into new market segments.
Tests are now being conducted on a plug-in hybrid version of the Leon, known as Twin Drive. This version will be part of the next Leon range that’s set to arrive in late 2012. Volkswagen actually revealed plans to produce an all-electric version of the Golf (where the Leon is based) from 2013. It’s expected that the car’s drivetrain will come from Seat IBE Concept from Geneva. Continued after the jump!
So far, VW has provided no details on whether the IBE will go into protection. The standard Leon range itself will be the first Seat to have many of the new design features of the IBE concept.
There will be three and five-door hatchback variants that will be available. The estate version is will also likely make it to production due to Seat’s expressed desire to increase capacity at its Martorell plant.
Confirmation has been received that Seat, along with Skoda, will launch its own variant of VW’s Up city car. The model is also slated for a 2012 launch. Currently, the car remains at the design stage of its development. Like VW’s Up, Seat’s version will likely be offered with an all-electric drivetrain.
New CEO James Muir, who entered Seat from Mazda last September, will be explaining its five-year plan. Muir has utilized the spare capacity of Martorell. Muir expects its plant employees to work at more than 90% of its capacity, up from the 60%.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has finished testing the 2011 Ford Fiesta and has officially announced that the new FoMoCo compact will hit 40 mpg highway, making it the most fuel-efficient car in its class.
EPA certified the 2011 Fiesta at 29/40 mpg (city/highway), achieved with the 6-speed PoweShift automatic transmission. The 40 mpg highway rating is 5 mpg better than the Honda Fit and 4 mpg better than the Toyota Yaris.
“We worked hard to deliver the class-leading fuel economy Ford is becoming synonymous for,” said Steve Pintar, Fiesta chief nameplate engineer. “To be the only vehicle in the segment to deliver 40 mpg is something we feel consumers will appreciate.”
The 2011 Fiesta will come standard with a 5-speed manual transmission with an EPA rating of 28/37 mpg.
Refresher: The 2011 Ford Fiesta is powered by a 1.6L DOHC 4-cylinder engine making 120-hp with a peak torque of 109 lb-ft. The EPA rated the 2011 Fiesta at 29/40 mpg (city/highway) when mated to a 6-speed PowerShift automatic transmission and 28/37 mpg when mated to a 5-speed manual. Pricing for the 2011 Ford Fiesta starts at $13,320.
2011 Ford Fiesta:
Press Release:
ALL-NEW FORD FIESTA DELIVERS 40 MPG; TOPS CLASS IN FUEL ECONOMY
– Ford Fiesta with the six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission has been EPA certified for 40 mpg highway and 29 mpg city delivering class-leading fuel economy
– Fiesta features several fuel-saving technologies including its PowerShift automatic transmission, Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing, Electric Power Assist Steering, aggressive deceleration fuel shutoff and enhanced aerodynamics
– Fiesta joins Fusion Hybrid – America’s most fuel efficient midsize sedan – and other class leaders like Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner Hybrids, Ford Ranger, Mustang V-6 and Super Duty offering best-in-class fuel economy
DEARBORN, Mich., May 17, 2010 – Ford’s all-new 2011 Fiesta – an Internet star even before it goes on sale this summer – will now stand out on the highway with an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certified 40 mpg rating, making it the most fuel efficient car in its class.
The Ford Fiesta 40 mpg, achieved with Ford’s new six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission, is 5 mpg better than the Honda Fit and 4 mpg better than the Toyota Yaris.
“The new Fiesta is yet another car in Ford’s lineup that delivers class-leading fuel economy,” said Barb Samardzich, vice president, Global Powertrain Engineering. “From Super Duty to Fusion Hybrid and the new Mustang V-6, Ford is committed to fuel economy leadership with every new vehicle it introduces in all segments.”
Fiesta’s class-leading fuel efficiency follows Fusion Hybrid – America’s most fuel efficient midsize sedan – and other fuel economy champs such as the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mercury Mariner Hybrid and Ford Ranger pickup. For 2011, the streak continues with the Mustang V-6, Ford Super Duty and now the responsive, sporty and economical Fiesta. Moving forward, Ford is committed to being a fuel economy leader in each segment in which it competes.
The Fiesta achieves its best-in-segment fuel figures thanks to a host of fuel-saving technologies not normally seen at this price level. To increase fuel economy, Fiesta features a new 1.6-liter Duratec® engine with Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) that delivers 120 horsepower, an aggressive deceleration fuel shutoff and an engine accessory drive system that improves efficiency by reducing the energy it takes to power the air conditioner and alternator.
In addition, the Fiesta also features the PowerShift transmission, a six-speed automatic that combines the fuel benefits of a manual with the convenience of an automatic. Combine that with electric power-assisted steering, another fuel saver and some aerodynamic optimizations and you have a car that can go a long way on a single tank of fuel.
The 2011 Fiesta with standard five-speed manual transmission is EPA rated at 28 mpg city and 37 mpg highway.
These efficiency innovations combine with the stylish and aerodynamically clean Fiesta body design to efficiently slip through the wind with both fuel savings and reduced wind noise.
Fiesta is built for North American markets at Ford’s manufacturing facility in Cuautitlan, Mexico. The vehicle goes on sale in four-door sedan and five-door hatchback body styles – with the sedan starting at $13,995, including destination charges – at Ford dealerships this summer.
WITH VIDEO — Most people have seen the Old Town section of Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, Calif., once a year–during the Rose Bowl parade.
Well, finally, there’s a new and good reason to interrupt traffic on Colorado: Concorso Ferrari. It’s a splendid gathering of beautiful Ferraris for which the city closes down two whole blocks of the busy thoroughfare for anyone who wants to ogle the hundreds of Italian works of wheeled art parked there for the day. This year it happened on May 16. A total of 152 Ferraris (and a Porsche Carrera GT, a Mercedes-Benz Gullwing and at least one Lamborghini Gallardo) blocked the street as thousands of spectators took photos and gawked at the best of vintage and modern Maranello.
It was a good mix of cars. The first car we came across was collector Bruce Meyer’s 1957 Testa Rossa, first owned by John von Neumann, who alternated driving with future Formula One pilot Richie Ginther. After that, the car was driven by Ken Miles and now, by Meyer, as often as he can.
“It’s like catnip to car people. It’s a wonderful, wonderful car and it’s just great fun to bring it down and share it,” the ever-enthusiastic Meyer said.
Watch video of the 2010 Concorso Ferrari in Pasadena, Calif.:
Auto restorer Steve Tillack brought a 1958 Ferrari Grand Prix car, which he also occasionally drives.
“It’s a delight to drive. You kind of drive it like a sprint car; you throw it at a corner and power-slide it out. If you can get used to doing it, it’s so much fun you can’t imagine,” said Tillack. “You can look like a hero and not be a really good driver.”
Peter McCoy won Best in Show with his stunningly simple 1958 PF Cab Series I.
“It’s been two years in restoration,” said McCoy. “It’s been in a fire. A lot of parts melted, and we had to remake a lot of parts . . . a lot of great Ferrari collectors helped put this thing back together.”
A well-deserved win, in our opinion.
There were many tifosi on hand who just loved the marque, and who can explain that?
“Once you hear a Ferrari run, you’re done,” event organizer Marv Landon said.
“My veins are filled with Ferrari-red blood,” vintage-racing organizer and former Hollywood Sports Car employee Chris Vandergriff explained.
The region also benefits from a large number of Ferrari owners and fans.
“We have more Ferraris here in Southern California than they do in all of Italy,” said racing historian Alan Bolte, master of ceremonies of the event, explaining why this region of the FCA is such a huge success.
The event is put on by the Ferrari Club of America’s Southwest Region, a relatively new branch of the club that just happens to be headquartered in the place of highest concentration of Ferrari owners in the country, Southern California.
Next year’s Concorso is scheduled for May 22. Get all your shopping out of the way now.

The EPA has finished calculating the fuel economy of the 2011 Fiesta and as Ford projected, its new baby has hit 40 miles per gallon. The official numbers from the Feds are 29 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway for Fiestas with the new six-speed dual-clutch Powershift gearbox. Those highway numbers top the Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit by four and five mpg, respectively.
Fiestas with the base five-speed manual gearbox get a rating of 28 mpg city and 37 mpg highway. All North American Fiestas for now are equipped with a 120 horsepower, 1.6-liter inline four regardless of which gearbox is selected. The first batches of Fiestas should be on their way to dealers in the coming weeks now that production has started.

Tonight’s must-read comes from Ambrose-Evans Pritchard at The Telegraph who offers some clear views on why the EU’s big shock & awe rescue plan is not having its desired result — why it hasn’t fully instilled confidence.
Part of it is this whole insistent on the part of leaders that the goal was to go after a “wolfpack” of speculators. That screams willful ignorance of the real, structural problems at hand (even if it is just rhetorical).
Then there are continuing concerns about the bailout mechanism.
Beyond that, the Europe is losing the Germans.
This is interesting:
Chancellor Angela Merkel has put the best face on a deal that has so damaged her leadership. “If the euro fails, then Europe fails and the idea of European unity fails,” she said. Too late, I think. The German nation is moving on. I was struck by a piece in the Frankfurter Allgemeine proposing a new “hard currency” made up of Germany, Austria, Benelux, Finland, the Czech Republic, and Poland, but without France. The piece entitled The Alternative says deflation policies may push Greece to the brink of “civil war” and concludes that Europe would better off if it abandoned the attempt to hold together two incompatible halves. “It can be done,” the piece says.
That (at least some) Germans see France as part of the other half is telling. (And if anyone can point to a version of the FAZ article (which is behind a paywall), we’d be appreciative.
Take it slow and easy.Thats a good motto for learning a new skill or going through a big life transition. When you decide to explore becoming a vegetarian, it is very easy to get scared off by what appears to be a difficult road ahead. But the truth is, there is an easy way and a hard way to become a vegetarian. So in keeping with our motto of the day of “make it easy on yourself”, lets discuss vegetarianism the easy way.
First of all along with learning a new way to eat, you are also giving up something you probably have loved to eat for years. So to reduce the difficulty in going through this transition, don’t try to accomplish the entire transition in one day.
We have a mistaken concept about vegetarians that the conversion is instantaneous as though one day the person was eating all the meat he or she could find and in a flash they became a robe wearing, mantra singing vegetarian. But that is complete myth. Most successful vegetarians found there way into the discipline in stages and gave up meat slowly.
You might take on your vegetarian transition one meal at a time.First give up eggs and bacon for breakfast and switch to grain cereals or pancakes.Don’t try to give up cheese and milk at first.
Select specific items you will eliminate from specific meals and just accomplish that for a week or so.Then once you have conquered that step, add lunch and then much later add dinner. And don’t throw your hands up and give up if you have a moment of weakness and have a hamburger one day. You wont be drummed out of the vegetarian society for one mistake in your program. Just get back with it and keep on keeping on.
Find ways to see some success by being reasonable and sensible about how you approach your meal planning. If one of your goals for switching to a meatless diet is to lose weight, don’t substitute sugars and sweats for the meat.If you find yourself eating without meat but each day you have a big bowl of fruit drowned in sugary additives, you won’t lose the weight and you might mistakenly think your program failed you. Think about what you eat so you don’t sabotage your own diet.
One of the things that scares a lot of people away from trying vegetarianism is the idea of having to learn to eat exotic and expensive new foods such as tofu, and tempeh. So make it easy on yourself and eat the foods you know.
By doing your shopping in your own grocery store and buying more food from the produce section than the meat section, you will be working with foods like carrots, onions, garlic, broccoli, celery and cabbage and that familiarity will make the transition to becoming a vegetarian easier to take. Also by shopping where you are comfortable and eating “normal” foods, you eliminate the sensation that you are joining some bizarre cult.
Now make it fun. Yes it can be fun to be a vegetarian. You can start shopping at farmer’s markets instead at the boring grocery store and select very fresh produce and vegetables for your next cooking experiment. Not only are outdoor markets more fun, you will find them cheaper so instead of seeing your food budget go up because of becoming a vegetarian, it goes down.
Then by working as a family to find fun vegetarian recipes and working together to make them, everybody gets in on the act discovering how delicious vegetarian meals can be. And when you are having fun, you may forget entirely that you dreaded this transition. Before long, you are a vegetarian and it didn’t hurt a bit!
Is there anything I can do to get my local grocery stores to stock more vegetarian options?
Would it do any good to talk to the manager of large chain grocery stores? I was at the store tonight and I looked for my favorite vegetarian vegetable soup by Campbells, and the store didn’t even carry it. They had that slot replaced with one of their store brand soups. I mean, come on, there were about 100 meat-based soups, and the one they choose not to stock is the only vegetarian option? Grrr. Also, I’ve been trying to find different varieties of dairy-free sorbet, but the only one they carry at the two largest grocery stores here is raspberry. These are big stores, too.
So, my question is, should I talk to the manager or would that be pointless?
Usually if you put in a request for something the grocer (customer service) will order it for you. I have been thinking lately that if we all (veg*ns) made it a point to ask our favorite local grocery stores to stock certain veg*n products they just might catch on that there is a niche for these foods.
I would like to add that a grocery store that I use to go to before I moved has recently added a little section just off from produce (non perishable items like soup, etc…) that is exclusively vegetarian. I was thrilled to see this and I hope to see more and more stores adopt this trend. The store I am talking about is Dillons and they are owned by Kroger.
