  • New NEPTUNE line upgrade – NEPTUNE 4 FA, 5 FA and 7 FA

Nilfisk-ALTO announces the upgrade of the successful NEPTUNE medium and premium range lines of hot water professional pressure washers.

As from this autumn, the new NEPTUNE 4 FA, 5 FA and 7 FA line will come equipped with a hot water version of the new NA5 pump. This pump, already present in a cold water version on the POSEIDON 5, is a 3 ceramic piston wobble disc pump, driven by a 1450 rpm motor.

In addition, the hot water models will be equipped with a flow activated system – a further development on the old 02 and C3 KEW systems. The flow activated system uses the movement of water in order to generate the start and stop impulses to the motor. Compared to the pressure activated system, the new solution offers several advantages:

    • Absence of stand-by pressure in the hose, gun and lance during by-pass. Hoses etc become more maniable, easy to move and safe.
    • Low sensitivity to leaks in equipment, components or piping. Leaks that would generate motor start-stops on pressure activated systems will not cause these problems on flow activated systems – thus preserving motor life.

As on the pressure activated systems, pump head is not under pressure and simplicity and ease of service are good.

The terminology “FA” in the product name will indicate that the unit is equipped with a flow activated system.

    Other features:
The NEPTUNE line retains all of the well-known and highly competitive features that have been important in ensuring the success of these ranges in the past years.

    • Time delayed auto start stop for extended motor reliability (and increased user comfort through no noise during work pauses)
    • Flame sensor
    • Exhaust gas temperature sensor
    • Low fuel safety to protect fuel pump
    • Duo motor system ensuring good burner function irrespective of phase connection
    • EcoPower boiler
    • Low pump oil level safety

  • Load Banks for every application

Coudoint supply load banks from a few kilowatts to several hundred kilowatts:
    – five Series of Battery Discharge Tester standard models of various size and power rating, with a manual or electronically controlled load value selection,
    – for other needs, custom designs or product adaptations based on the experience of the numerous products designed for years for various applications: battery discharge testers, load banks for laboratory and teaching equipment, for the aerospace industry (28 VDC or 400 Hz 3-phase), testers for DC or AC generators : power supplies, UPS, welding power sources, etc.

The load banks can also be used to generate electrical conditions for testing a specific type of electrical equipment: electromechanical relay, breaker, etc. In that case, they become a production or troubleshooting tester or part of it.

The use of our own resistive components allows to design lightweight and easily transportable products, thanks to our woven resistors technology. It gives also a guarantee of quality and performance of the resistors, especially concerning their stability with the temperature, depending on the type of alloy used for the resistance wires.

The internal design and manufacturing of the housings makes it possible to provide the products at the exact required dimensions, from the small hand-transportable case up to very large housings.

Depending on the need, the load value may be selected:
    – manually with, if useful, a fine tuning achieved by built-in rheostats,
    – via an electronic interface allowing to remote control the load bank via a serial link, an industrial bus, etc.
    – by a built-in electronic controller which will operate a specific regulation (current, power) according to preset values or laws. The controller can also measure and record voltage and current values as well as other useful values (temperature, etc.) and send them to a PC.

  • Health Care Push: No Subtlety for the NYT

This is the photo attached to a NYT article yesterday about the outcome of the President’s final push for the health care bill:

I am SO sick and tired of talking about health care, but I will say this one last thing. BOMBARD your representatives this week. Phones, email, fax and snail mail if you can.

Find your Reps and let them know how you feel.

It DOES make a difference…like that NYT article said, they still have PTSD from the aftermath of Hillary-care in 1994. Believe me, regardless of what Nancy Pelosi says, none of them value health care reform more than their own paycheck. The swing districts oppose the measure. Couple that with your calls and letters and Nancy will have a lot of trouble getting the 216 votes she needs…

I know the NYT will claim the illustration depicts a medical cross, but come on…

  • The Forgotten Boy

    Egyptians (Tim Reid)

Tim has written a piece speculating on the identity of the third occupant of the side chamber in KV35, a young boy who seems to have got lost in the telling of the DNA tale. In this detailed post Tim examines the possibility of identifying the boy.

In the recent two year study of eighteenth dynasty royal mummies it seems that this boy from a side chamber in valley of kings tomb KV 35 was not included.

There are artifacts from the tomb Kv 35 which belong to a son of Amenhotep II named Webensenu as a result of the mummies found in the tomb there are four candidates to be that prince including this boy or another mummy found attached to a funerary boat belonging to Amenhotep II or either of two skeletons.

Some have speculated that the mummy on the boat was the founder of the twentieth dynasty Sethnakht because of a reused coffin once manufactured for that king was present in the tomb at the time of discovery. Unfortunately the mummy was destroyed more than a hundred years ago when the boat was stolen.

  • Agh! I Agree With the ACLU?!

The Worcester County chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts wants to start a dialogue with school officials considering a proposal for a mandatory school uniform policy.

The measure, the organization says, violates the rights of students.

Furthermore, the ACLU believes students’ clothing should be influenced by parental guidance and not by educational administrators, he said.

“We should encourage young people to have a certain amount of individuality and creativity,” he said. “Students only have certain ways to show their individuality — one way is through their clothing. We know we have to act as part of a group in society, but at the same time, we want to succeed as individuals. We don’t want everyone marching to the same tune.”
    (source)

I know that in the past most of you have seriously parted ways with me on this topic.

You tell yourself it evens the playing field. It doesn’t. There will still be kids with Uggs and kids with Faux-uggs…purses, jewelry, backpacks, jackets and cars…it will never be “fair.”

I am SO opposed to uniforms in public schools. And yes, it would be easier AND cheaper for me…but it’s wrong. I would have HATED it. It would have killed my spirit. Demoralized in khakis and a navy polo…the thought makes me shudder. It would have destroyed what little I liked about school. It would have made me just another faceless cog in the machine…a soldier in Kim Jong-Il’s army.

So, it looks like the ACLU and I are in lockstep with this one…
