Normal joint function requires healthy cartilage and bone, smooth gliding surfaces, synovial fluid, normal joint spaces, and normal soft tissues surrounding the joints. Of the many substances required for the normal functioning of the joints, collagen is one of the most important substances. There are over 14 different types of collagen found throughout the body. Type II collagen is the most abundant structural component found in the articular (joint) cartilage matrix. Interwoven in collagen type II matrixes are powerful substances known as glycosaminoglycans (hyaluronic acid & chondroitin sulfate), which give the cartilage it’s amazing, shock absorbing properties.JOINT SCIENCE BREAKDOWN
As we age, there is a decrease in the production and concentration of collagen type II in the joints. The lack of this vital structural component leads to cartilage deterioration and can eventually lead to joint pain discomfort.
Using a revolutionary approach; ARTHENOL containing patented BioCell Collagen II, is an advanced and comprehensive dietary joint supplement.A JOINT’S BEST FRIEND
A comprehensive formulation, ARTHENOL is a composition of nutrients that naturally promote optimal joint health and lubrication. ARTHENOL goes beyond glucosamine with three essential key elements to provide complete, synergistic joint support. It helps to rejuvenate tissue to its youthful strength and flexibility. As the only supplement which provides certified levels of collagen type II, hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate – ARTHENOL is naturally balanced and has just what your joints need for the rigorous demands of their everyday tasks.Due to an exceptionally large molecular structure in its native (high-molecular) form, collagen is poorly absorbed through the intestinal tract. However, ARTHENOL with BioCell Collagen II is specially processed using a patented hydrolysis method-which optimizes the molecular weight distribution for effective absorption-without losing its beneficial physiological effects on target tissues like cartilage and joints.
ARTHENOL also promotes nourishment of the skin by supplying naturally occurring hyaluronic acid (HA) which helps with age-related dermal malnourishment.
PROVEN RESULTS
ARTHENOL has helped an increasing number of people improve the quality of their lives. A subjective joint relief study demonstrated that almost 90% of the people surveyed reported benefiting by the use of BioCell Collagen II in a short period of time. In fact, BioCell Collagen II is so profoundly effective that it was granted 4 United States Patents with several international patents pending.

Judge gives custody in boy-behind-wall case to dad
BENTON — A judge ruled Friday that custody of a “very resilient” 7-year-old boy hidden by his mother for nearly two years, often in a crawl space, should go to his father with the caveat that the court maintain oversight of the child.
Franklin County Circuit Judge Melissa Drew rejected awarding the boy to his mother, Shannon Wilfong, who moments earlier was described by the attorney for the boy’s father as irrational.
“I don’t think Ms. Wilfong is in touch with reality,” Fred Turner argued in pressing that his client, Wilfong’s former boyfriend Michael Chekevdia, deserved to have the boy.
Drew reiterated her previous finding that the child’s two years in hiding until he was found last September in his grandmother’s home amounted to neglect, citing his forced absence from schools and outside medical care.
Wilfong has done little until lately to cooperate with caseworkers, the judge added, citing the woman’s refusal to give child-welfare officials her address and delay in agreeing to counseling.
“I find I have no other choice than to find her unfit” for custody, the judge said.
While deciding that the boy now can stay with Chekevdia, Drew ordered the child be a ward of the court so the family can continue getting state counseling. The judge scheduled a progress hearing for July 9.
The boy had been in a relative’s temporary custody since being found last fall as Chekevdia sought custody.
Drew called the boy “very, very resilient” and “very strong,” noting the child’s weight gain and added muscle tone since his captivity ended. The boy no longer shoves other children, is “a friendly child with peers and adults, and he appears to be adjusting well with his placement in school and with his father,” Drew said.
Wilfong’s supervised visits with the boy have been only for about an hour once every three weeks, a caseworker testified Friday. Drew, siding with Wilfong’s court-appointed attorney, Eric Dirnbeck, said the mother deserves increased time with the child if she complies better with child-welfare workers.
Wilfong, prone to outbursts during the months of the custody hearings, briefly interrupted Friday’s proceedings by walking out while clutching a wad of tissues. Dirnbeck said she had been feeling ill. Wilfong, 30, declined comment afterward, saying only “I’m too sick right now to talk to anybody.”
Authorities say Wilfong began hiding her son at her mother’s house near Royalton in late 2007, stashing him in a crawl space — roughly 5 feet by 12 feet, about the height of a washing machine — whenever visitors came.
The home’s windows were blocked off with shades or other items, and Drew has found the boy was deprived of contact with peers, medical care and education. Testimony showed the boy was allowed outside only at night or in a fenced-in area not visible to passers-by.
Authorities raided the home in September, found the boy, and arrested Wilfong and her mother, Diane Dobbs. Wilfong has been charged with felony abduction. Dobbs and her boyfriend, Robert Sandefur, both 51, are accused of aiding and abetting the alleged crime. All three have pleaded not guilty and are free on bond.
Dobbs contends Wilfong fled with the boy to protect him from abuse by Chekevdia, a former police officer and an Illinois National Guard lieutenant colonel. Chekevdia has rejected their allegations, as have state child welfare officials.

St. Mary’s mourns longtime priest, the memorable Father Duffy
The former pastor of St. Mary Parish in Buffalo Grove, who led parishioners there for nearly 20 years, has passed away.
The Rev. Donald Duffy, who was retired, died Thursday at 91.
Although it has been more than 20 years since Rev. Duffy served in Buffalo Grove, signs of his ministry remain, from the curve of Lake-Cook Road around the parish, to the present church itself, built during his tenure.
“He was very proud of the fact that when the state wanted to extend Lake-Cook Road west from Milwaukee Avenue, he was able to donate land to get them to bend it (south) of the parish,” says parishioner Bill Leahy of Buffalo Grove. “He was able to preserve the integrity of the parish, otherwise it would have been split right down the middle.”
Rev. Duffy served as pastor from 1969 to 1988, as the parish and suburb were both experiencing record growth. In order to accommodate the growing number of families, he undertook the building of a new, 1,000-seat worship space, beginning in 1978.
During its building years, parishioners attended Mass in the school’s lunchroom.
“While expanding our worship space, he was still able to maintain the integrity of our church that dates back to 1899,” says the Rev. Mark Reszel, pastor.
The new space was configured with a unique “see-through” altar to retain the existing beauty of the old church, with its historic chapel and landmark steeple, while accommodating a larger congregation.
Rev. Duffy also felt a strong commitment to the school, Rev. Reszel added, whose enrollment hovered around 900 students during those years.
He helped to institute one of its major fundraisers during the 1970s, the Passport event which brought school families together in staging live entertainment in classrooms and the gymnasium, later named the Duffy Center.
In 1988, Rev. Duffy suffered a stroke, leading to the appointment of his assistant pastor, the Rev. Ken Kiepura, as pastor. Fr. Kiepura is now is the pastor of St. Joseph’s in Libertyville.
One of Rev. Duffy’s classmates, the Rev. Timothy Lyne, retired bishop of Chicago, describes Rev. Duffy at this time and throughout the ensuing years as a man of courage, optimism and trust for the way he responded to this experience.
“He was a great parish priest and pastor,” said Bishop Lyne, “and a very good administrator as well.”
Fr. Duffy will lie in state starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21, at St. Mary Church, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road. Visitation will conclude with a wake service at 6 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, where an honor guard of schoolchildren will participate, as a symbol of Rev. Duffy’s dedication to their faith formation.

Naperville readying for Lysacek’s triumphant return
When men’s figure skating Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek returns home to Naperville, he will be feted like a conquering hero.
“We want to do a day – an Evan Lysacek Day – in Naperville where he’s recognized and given a key to the city because he’s made us so darn proud,” said Mayor George Pradel said Friday, a day after the native son secured gold in Vancouver. “When we know when he’s coming back in, we’ll give him a police and fire escort to wherever he’s going.”
Neuqua Valley High School Principal Bob McBride plans to have the 2003 graduate recognized at the school as well when he reappears in Naperville.
“We know the city will be doing something, but hopefully we can get him back in the building to celebrate his accomplishment here,” McBride said.
Several of Lysacek’s former teachers are Neuqua watched their former student win his medal Thursday, even though they had to stay up late on a school night to do so. The final results weren’t announced until after 11 p.m.
“I was going to go to bed after he skated and just find out how he did when I woke up in the morning, but once I got to bed I just couldn’t resist, I had to see it,” said Inna Kagan, who taught social studies to a sophomore and junior Lysacek. “The moment it was over though, I went right to sleep.”
Neuqua Assistant Principal Lance Fuhrer taught world history to an unassuming freshman who would later achieve Olympic glory. He said Lysacek valued the education he was receiving.
“One of the special things about Evan was that he was the only skater ranked in the top 10 who was still attending regular school,” Fuhrer said.
But it wasn’t the same high school experience most teenagers had.
“He would miss at least one week out of every month for skating,” Fuhrer said. “But he kept up with his studies. One time it just so happened the week we were all in class discussing Michelangelo’s David, he was actually in Florence and went to see the sculpture while we were all unfortunately looking at pictures. The most he ever probably spoke in class was when he got back from that trip and was peppered with questions about David.”
One of Lysacek’s former skating coaches also praised her former pupil’s educational discipline on the ice. Debbie Stoery coached Lysacek for nearly four years when he was a teenager. She said the hard work Lysacek is known for paid off Thursday. She took pride in knowing she had played a part in helping him recognize his goal.
“The rewarding thing for me is to see the development of a skater from the beginning to the end,” she said. “Sometimes teaching someone a single axel (jump) is more rewarding than teaching a triple axel.”
Jan Serafine was one of the few locals besides Lysacek’s family on hand in Vancouver to congratulate the skater after his victory. As president of the DuPage Figure Skating Club, she has known Lysacek and his family for more than a decade.
“I wasn’t as sure as some after his skate,” Serafine admitted. “Dick Button called me on my cell after his routine and said, ‘Your boy did it.’ I didn’t know if would be enough, but what a skate it was.”

Morgan Stanley: U.S. Stocks Outperform When The Dollar Rises And Europe Falls
Given all the hype over stocks and U.S. dollar weakness correlation in 2009, we thought it might be useful to show this slide form a recent Morgan Stanley global strategy presentation.
It shows how European stocks tend to outperform U.S. ones during periods of dollar strength… except when European growth is deteriorating. In those scenarios U.S. stocks tend to outperform their European peers.
The lesson — just buy the stocks you like and that you think are cheap. Ignore the dollar, these correlations can appear and disappear thus it’s best to just focus on picking up good companies at low valuations, since that’s hard enough to do.
