  • Honda Recalls an Extra 378,000 Vehicles on Airbag Issue

    As hinted ever since July 2009, when we first reported to possible extent of Honda’s recall, the Japanese carmaker officially confirmed today it will recall an additional 378,758 Accord, Civic, Odyssey, CR-V, and selected 2002 Acura TL models in the US, to fix a faulty airbag inflator.

    The addition of these vehicles comes after in late 2008 Honda decided to recall some 4,000 model year 2001 Accord and Civic vehicles to replace the driver’s airbag inflator. According to Honda, following this … (read more)

  • Red Bull Reveals RB6 at Jerez

    Red Bull Racing became the 10th team to unveil their 2010 challenger this year, only hours before the second test of the season kicks off in Jerez.   • PSA’s Negotiations with Chang’an for Second Chinese JV Advancing

    PSA Peugeot-Citroen is negotiating with Chang’an Motor Corp, China’s fourth-largest automaker, to create the French company’s second joint venture in China, with the contract expected to be signed shortly after the upcoming Spring Festival,as China Daily reports.

    Corvette Racing will continue its racing adventure in 2010 by competing in the GT2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in France, on June 12-13.

  • Jaguar Gets Class Leading Residuals

    Jaguar just got some good news, as the Indian owned automaker will get class leading residual values for its future XJ model.   • Volvo to Miss February 14 Sale to Geely

    Ford’s year-plus long attempt to sale its Swedish unit Volvo may get an extension and miss the February 14 deadline set together with Chinese projected buyer Geely, as negotiations seem to have stalled on financing and details in the signing documents, sources close to the matter told Business Week.

  • Hybrid Electric Vehicles Range Extension Development Announced

    FEV, a U.S. powertrain and vehicle technologies developer, announced that it has coupled one of its Auxiliary Power Units (APU) with a 3-cylinder engine for use in Hybrid Electric Vehicles.

    The coupling of the unit with the engine extends the range of the standard Hybrid Electric Vehicle from 20 – 40 miles to 200 – 350 when this is required.     California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is seeking resources to cover up the gap of $19.9 billion in the budget.     British carmaker Rolls Royce announced today it will shuffle its Asia-Pacific team, by appointing Paul Harris as the company’s new regional director for Asia Pacific and moving the man who currently holds this position, Colin Kelly, to Canada.

    Harris is a 25-year veteran of the BMW Group, having worked with the carmaker’s offices in the UK and mainland Europe. He is moving to the new position from General Manager of the Northern European operations of Rolls Royce.

    A recent independent study indicates that U.S. dealerships have considerably increased their social media presence in their efforts to increase sales.

    The report, issued by GOSO, a web and social media company based in Washington D.C., shows that 25.5 % of dealerships have their own Facebook page and 10.9 % have created a Twitter account.     After earlier today news came that the European Commission approved the Swedish state loan guarantees for Saab, the company which bought GM’s last standing bad asset announced it has managed to secure an additional 25 million loan from an investment company owned by Heerema Holding Company.
