I’m a type 2 insulin dependant diabetic for about 9 years. My mom, dad, 1 of my sis takes insulin. The other sis is diet controlled. My grandma was a diabetic and my uncle also is. My mom is on dialysis- so that is my history.
I went to the urgent clinic last week for an unrelated illness and had a U/A done. It came back as >1000m with also an abnormal value of 4 for the UBG (urinologubulin?) test- something to do with the liver. The doctor who admitted to having no exp with diabetcs noted that my Glucose was 4+.
I will start by admitting that I know that I’m non compliant. I am supposed to take novolog after every meal and one lantus inj at night. I suffer from hot spots, blood etc, pain when I inject myself and also lead an extremely busy lifestyle. My vision was 20/40 in one eye and 20/50 in another eye, both 20/30.
The doctor suggested the pump. Does anyone know what the 1000mg u/a on a test strip equates to? or what a UBG test is for. I’m doing my lab tomorrow and will prob. get fussed out by my doct this week. I have no idea what my current aic is but i just did my check and it as 300. My last meal was at 7:30am est and i tested at 12:20pm. I am getting a bit alarmed but i’m also realistic that needles at 4xs a day will not work for me.
Any advice or comment would be appreciated. I’m a female and 38yrs old. Thank you.
