  • Just Got My Contour USB!

I just picked up my Contour USB from the pharmacy- at no cost thanks to insurance. We talk so much about getting meters at no cost from the companies, I completely forget about insurance. It’s plugged into my computer and charging right now. When I have a chance, I will test it and also take pics and then report back. It’s a very cool looking meter!
  • I Love My New Doctor

I had my first follow up with my new doctor. I love her just as much as the first day. My appointment was for five, I showed up before four because work was over and there was no point in going home. I figured I would just sit around and read. They called me before I could even get my book out of my purse!

She was very helpful. She asked me how things were going with the Byetta. We talked about bloodwork. I will be getting an a1C, cholesterol, grf (I think that’s what it is, kidney function), and urine test. She also added in TSH, T4, CBC, and iron after I mentioned the fatigue.

I told her that we had discussed diabetes ed and nothing had come of that. She gave me a copy of the new referral and said I might want to give them a call. This time it’s ten hours and she has offically marked it as Type 2!

Finally, I asked her if she had any of the new Contour USBs. She did not, but she gave me a script for one. I mentioned I didn’t necessary wanted to switch my strip script just yet because I wanted to see if I liked it first, so she gave me a Contour so I could use the strips.

I really like her. I don’t feel uncomfortable talking to her or asking her about specific tests. She is very attentive and always listens ot my ideas.

  • Byetta Users- Nausea?

Any Byetta users out there experience nausea? I know it’s a side effect listed on the info. I started feeling nauseated about an hour after dinner tonight. My blood sugars kept dropping, I was hanging around a mild hypo all night. I finally threw up a few minutes ago. I’m pretty sure it’s the Byetta.

Has anybody else had this happen? How long did it take to subside? I simply can’t afford to be sick. One of my two paras in my classroom quit literally halfway through the day on Monday so I have one sub in the room already. I had a new student start this week. Two of my kids have been off the wall. Nobody listens to the subs we have. I had to restrain a couple of times today and I am the only one in the room who is certified to do it. I’m not going to take it tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll be okay.

I don’t want to go off of it because it has been really helping me get things under control. Please tell me this goes away.
