  • Senate Bill Grants Protections to Wrongfully Ticketed Drivers (AUDIO)

A bill passed by the Illinois Senate will place further restrictions on red-light cameras around the state.

Senate Bill 935, offered by Senate President Cullerton and Assistant Majority Leader Rickey Hendon, would provide practical enforcement and appeal processes for Illinois drivers.

Many recipients of tickets claim they’ve received tickets for unjust reasons including stopping beyond marked parameters at intersections. Others have claimed red light cameras have simply gotten violations wrong. Legislators are convinced their plan will help stop unwarranted violations by allowing law enforcement officials to review violations before they are mailed off to drivers.
