  • Video: Snowball Fight!!!

    Hundreds of DC residents found a welcome break from the monotony of shoveling snow by hurling snowballs at friends and strangers in one one the half dozen or so mass snowball fights across Washington organized through social networking sites.

    “Battle Snowpocalypse” took place on the Ellipse, just south of the White House, from noon to 3pm. “The Official Dupont Circle Snowball Fight” started at 2pm, as did the “Lincoln Park on Capitol Hill” snowball fight, shown here.

  • Heavy, Wet Snow Smothers Capitol Hill

    Last December’s snow storm brought over a foot and half of light, dry snow that was easy to shovel and hard to pack into a snowball.  This is not that snow storm.

    Washington is being hammered by heavy, wet snow that, while perfect for snowmen, is bending branches, toppling trees, and stressing the capital city’s ability to keep streets clear. And that’s only in the first few hours.
