  • Making The Rounds: Know Your Opponent Part Two

During the offseason we will be posting links regarding opponents for the upcoming football season so that fans can get more familiar with these opponents.  This feature might be changing in presentation in the upcoming weeks, but it will be posted.  Today is part one since there are just under 30 non-conference opponents so check back tomorrow for some more link goodies.

    San Diego State Opponents

    Missouri

Tiger players take the pain.  If you like stats this is it for you Statistically Speaking.

    Wyoming Opponents

    Texas

Mack Brown talks spring football and Garrett Gilbert will be under center more often. Stretch draw plays could revolutionize the Horns’ run game.

  • Mountain West 2010 Football TV Schedule Is Out

Great news everyone the television schedule is out for the 2010 MWC football season — well most of it.  The awesome news is that the Mtn. will broadcast all games in high definition which is a league first.  Previously it was select games that were in high def.

The good news is that the opening game which is Thursday September 2nd is Pitt at Utah, and will be on Versus and if pre-season polls are correct this will be a matchup between to top 20 or 25 teams, and will be the marquee matchup of the night.  The other games are on ESPN which are Southern Miss at South Carolina (side note: how does USC keep getting this game) the other is USC at Hawai’i.  The USC game may be more interesting with Lane Kiffin and all but the best game will be Pitt at Utah.

There are still games to be determined such as non-conference road games.  The New Mexico at Oregon, Wyoming aat Texas, and Air Force at Oklahoma will most definitely be on tv.  Then the Utah at Iowa State and UNLV at West Virginia may be on television and most likely be a picked up game by ESPN if they want it or Fox Sports for the Iowa State game.

To see the entire schedule keep reading!

Here is part of the press release from the Mountain West:

The non-conference schedule features 19 games against teams that earned bowl berths in 2009, including Boise State, Florida State, Idaho (2 games), Iowa State, Missouri, Nevada (2 games), Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, Pittsburgh, Texas, Texas Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Seven non-conference opponents finished ranked in last year’s final Top 25 polls.

The MWC will play 14 games against Bowl Championship Series automatic-qualifying conference opponents including seven against the Big 12, three match-ups with the Pac-10, two contests against the Big East and one each against the ACC and Big Ten.

After checking out the schedule comment on what your favorite game or best matchup will be, as well as making predictions on your team.
