  • My 18 year old is playing with his band in a Battle of the Bands today!

My 18 year old is a lead singer and guitarist in a band. Today he’s playing in a Battle of the Bands. Ahh.. he didn’t want me to go to this one because he said he was gonna go "nuts" on stage and it would be easier if we didn’t go to this one.

    The band plays rock/blues

  • My wife got us us the Ortega Whole grain Tacos.. and I didn’t spike!

Yeah! Now we can add Tacos as a family dinner that I can have!
My wife bought the Ortega Whole Grain Tocos, they are low in carbs! 2hrs after the meal I was 117!!!! WOW!!!!! Not bad!
So now it’s gonna be a regular at the Normandin’s casa 🙂
  • The Patriots lost to the Ravens. What a painful game to watch!

Oh well, the Patriots are out of the playoffs now. I was gonna go to the next home playoff game. OUCH .. the game wasn’t even close!
  • Do you go nearsighted when getting used to a new low?

    :banghead:
Man.. today I finally got down to a bg of 87. Right now small – medium print is blurry. I thought this only happened when I dropped from 200 – 120… right around 160 I would go nearsighted for a bit. Now I have a similar issue when my glucose is at 87.

How do you deal with it ? Glasses don’t work since the focal point is dynamic.

  • A funny thing happened while I was cooking supper, this might make you laugh

I was cooking teriyacki tuna steaks and steamed veggies for supper. My dog Allie was hanging in the kitchen hanging around. Well once the steaming veggies were done I put a little butter on and grabbed the cayenne pepper.. I spilled the pepper on the floor and Allie decided to lick it up. She looked at me..HAHAHA.. started to lick her paws to get the buring to stop, went to her bowl, drank water and ate for a while while.

The look on her face was hysterical. She must have consumed at least a teaspoon of cayenne pepper! And she didn’t puke!

  • Feeling better. My BG was 104 this morning YEAH!

Wow.. the gliburide and this board has helped big time! I was getting really bummed out for the past 2 months. My endocrine system likes to put my body into "fight or flight" mode ever since my employer went bankrupt. Two weeks ago my morning wake up glucose readings was @210. I was eatling low carb and excercising,so I felt "defeated". I guess the 5mg of gliburide made the difference. I was 104 this morning. Since I’ve been normal I finally got to push myself while exercising again. I start out with alternate touch toes 30 reps then on to the exercise bike set to cross train level 8, 30 minutes @ 17mph, weights (curls, overhead press, iron cross), back on bike for 20 minutes @ 17mph, back to weights, crunches, and then hit the shower. It took a few days but now my morning wake up was at 104 and my high for the day is 140. Now hopefully all my job applications via monster and dice wil get me something. I’m getting phone calls but mostly "junk-mail" calls looking for contracting work.

The "Rock-Me" thread has helped me too.. I listen to a lot of music. When I work out I crank up the tunes and rock out.
My 18 year old is incredible on guitar and has a powerful voice. So I like to listen to him practice or him and his band play. All this time at home, after I get through the morning exercises, chores (my wife has nothing to do when she gets home, LOL), and job search I actually have found time to take out the blues harp. Here’s a video of what I’m actually learning how to play, it’s an old J. Geils tune. Whammer Jammer.. complete lesson here! WOW

    😮

  • BG improving, I’m at 122 after 45 minutes on excercise bike

Finally my BG is improving. I’m currently at 122. The gliburide is helping. I’m taking 1 500mg metformin + 1 5mg gliburide + byetta in the morning and 2 500mg metformin and byetta at night.

I’ve got a phone interview at 3:30pm today!

    🙂

  • After 2 days on Gliburide, Metformin, + Bayetta .. almost normal bg numbers

Well.. I just tested 2hrs after lunch. I’m at 130.
Hopefully after some snow shoveling and working out with the cross training bike and weights later I’ll be lower.

    😮

  • Hi all, it been a while. My employer went bellyup and now now my BG average is @ 210

    Hi all,

Last October my A1C was 6.7.. not bad. November 2, myself and all my collegues at work were laid off. We were stiffed our last month’s paycheck, unused vacation time, and no severance. I organized everyone and we got a lawyer to represent us on a contingency. This stress has jacked my BG numbers up. Now I’m 180 – 220 most of the time. I excercise regularly in the morning and at night and even that IS NOT helping. Usually I would wake up and my BG would be 90. Now it’s 190. After I burn 400 calories on my bike before I shower I spike to 220. I don’t eat breakfast until after I shower. I’m ready to just not eat at all to see. I’m having a hard time.. now the higher glucose has me wired. I didn’t sleep last night… mostly the thought of the job search
kept my mind occupied and I couldn’t let it go and sleep.
Because with the job search I was just thinking about the savings + unemployment benefits and projecting how long I can juggle it all.

Does this happen to you? When is it possible that excercise can’t bring the glucose level down ?

    This sucks. 😡
