The Boy Genius Report: Escort’s Passport 9500ci radar and laser defense system
It’s funny to think how absolutely last-century speeding tickets are. I mean, a person actually has to take a radar gun, or laser gun, aim it at a stationary part of your vehicle like a license plate, and find out how fast you’re going. They then need to follow you and pull you over, just to let you know you were going a little bit faster than the speed limit on this beautiful spring morning with all of your windows open, and not another car on the road.

The Boy Genius Report: What is BlackBerry thinking?
At the company’s BlackBerry Live conference on Tuesday, BlackBerry announced what could be interpreted as zero positive news for the company. First, there’s the BlackBerry Q5 mid-range QWERTY handset that runs BlackBerry 10. Pricing was conveniently not announced. Industry watchers are chiming in saying that BlackBerry really needs to hit a $250 price point at full retail in order to compete in Asia and other similar markets. Let me spoil it for you.

Apple shares now up 12% from their low, yet we’re the only ones talking about it ahead of a monster WWDC
Apple’s outflow of capital over the last five months is staggering. It makes sense, however, when you think of how many shares are institutionally owned, and owned by non-retail shareholders. Why not take some profits from Apple’s meteoric rise over the past couple years? Why not sell some shares before the new year (2013) when the capital gains tax rate is going up by 25%? And yes, Apple’s margins have slowly come down, and the breakneck growth of the largest company in the world has changed pace. Yet, Apple’s fundamentals have not changed. Apple is still the most innovative company in the technology space and it has the most talent, with the best hardware, the best software, and the best ecosystem in the world.

Samsung Galaxy S4 review
What company is rolling out an iterative update to its best-selling smartphone in the world? One that builds upon the success of the previous model, yet for the most part retains the same shape, design, and form of last year’s phone? If you guessed Apple, you’d be wrong. The brand new Samsung Galaxy S4 improves upon the Galaxy S III in almost every way, but with HTC’s One already winning on materials and even user interface design, can Samsung build on its current momentum without reinventing the home button?

BlackBerry Q10 review
BlackBerry’s famous hardware keyboard is finally becoming available on the company’s latest operating system called BlackBerry 10 in the coming days, and the company’s new phone is called the BlackBerry Q10. Meshing up BlackBerry’s brand new OS with the same core features and specs of the BlackBerry Z10, the Q10 is the answer for die-hard BlackBerry fanatics. But considering how good the on-screen keyboard is on the Z10 — it’s the absolute best software keyboard I have ever used, in fact — is the Q10 even necessary in this day and age?

HTC One Review
HTC’s (2498) new smartphone comes at an important time. As good, thoughtful and purposeful as HTC’s products are, the company hasn’t been doing as well as it used to. Samsung’s (005930) been on a roll, and Apple (AAPL) is Apple. The latest flagship smartphone from HTC is the One, and it is a complete reset. It features a beautiful aluminum case, much lighter HTC Sense interface, and a load of innovative features that aren’t available on other smartphones. It’s a bag of tricks in a magician’s hat. So how does the HTC One stack up against the latest and greatest from the company’s competitors? Read on to learn more.

The Boy Genius Report: Apple’s billion dollar mobile payment magic trick
Apple (AAPL) shares have fallen more than 35% since hitting a record high last September. The tech press has declared that Apple is doomed. On the defensive. Unable to compete with Samsung (005930). Never mind that the company only pulled in $13 billion in profit last quarter, and only has $140 billion in cash, and that Apple has the best-selling smartphone in the world. There is one thing that Wall Street analysts have forgotten in their reports, models, and projections — Apple has 500 million iTunes accounts with credit cards.

The Boy Genius Report: Sonos’ PLAYBAR takes over the living room
I’ve been using Sonos’ brand new PLAYBAR for over a week, but it was apparent that the product is a hit even after just a few hours of use. The Sonos PLAYBAR is a sound bar, a high quality bar-shaped speaker enclosure that can be mounted below your television on the wall, or placed on your entertainment console to combine three front speakers into one. What makes the Sonos PLAYBAR so amazing is that it finally tackles a space that was so confusing, so commercialized, and so devoid of any innovation whatsoever.

HTC One preview
It’s been no secret over the past couple months that HTC (2498) has been working on a brand new flagship smartphone for 2013. As specifications and photos have appeared online, many have questioned whether HTC’s new phone — yes it’s called the HTC One — would radically change the company’s course. I spent some time with the HTC One, and I came away absolutely loving the device. It really feels as if HTC has evolved into a completely different animal in the short time since the HTC One X was released last year.
