  • Hit and Run Driver Seriously Injures Two Children

    Los Angeles: 
    The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is requesting the public’s
    help to identify and locate a suspect responsible for a hit-and-run
    traffic incident that seriously injured two girls.

    On December 28, 2009, at about 5:59 p.m., a 14-year-old girl and her
    3-year-old niece were crossing Main Street just north of 43rd Street
    when a two-door, white vehicle struck both pedestrians, throwing them
    about 40 feet.  Both victims suffered serious injuries and were
    transported to a local hospital for treatment.  The driver continued
    driving north on Main Street, failing to stop and identify herself or
    provide aid to the injured victims.    

    The driver was described as a female with no further descriptors.  The
    hit-and-run vehicle is described as an older two-door, white sedan with
    a stop lamp on the middle of the back window. It may also have
    collision damage to the right front headlamp or right front side-light
    cover.

  • Critical Missing Female

    On January 11, 2010, at around 4:30 p.m., Georgia Andrea Brougham was found safe and in good condition in the 3900 block of Cogswell Road, City of El Monte, California.

    Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department and the family of 47-year-old Georgia Andrea Brougham is asking for the public’s help in locating Brougham, who has been missing since last month.

    Brougham was last seen on or around December 17, 2009, in the area of 10600 block of Sepulveda Boulevard in Mission Hills.  So far, she has not returned home and has not been in contact with her family.  Her family advised that Brougham has been suffering from mental illness, and they are concerned about her safety.

    Brougham is described as a white female with brown hair and green eyes. She weighs approximately 120 pounds and stands about 5 feet 9 inches.  She is a Switzerland national and may speak with accented English.  

    Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Brougham is urged to contact LAPD Missing Persons Unit Detective Ciuffetelli at (213) 996-1800.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.

  • Promotion and Swearing in Ceremony

    Thursday January 7, 2010 – Stars and Bars are what were shining this afternoon as the new rank and file accepted their new positions as Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, Commander and Captain of the Los Angeles Police Department.  The newly appointed command staff was sworn into their new assignments and proudly accepted their shining badges presented to them by Chief Charlie Beck.  Their friends and family joined them on stage to celebrate this very special occasion.

    Promotional_ceremony Chief Beck congratulated and individually introduced his new command staff with a heartfelt personal introduction stating, “Not only do I trust them, I put my faith in them, I am absolutely sure these are the right people.”

    The following command staff was promoted; Assistant Chief Sandy Jo MacArthur, Assistant Chief Michel Moore, Deputy Chief Debra McCarthy, Deputy Chief Patrick Gannon, Commander Blake Chow, Commander Michael Moriarty, Commander Robert Green, Captain Melissa Zak and Captain Gina Sanders.  The ceremony was held at the new Police Administration Building, Ronald F. Deaton Civic Auditorium.
