Having been fiddling around with Google Earth overlay, and a 1933 os map of Belle Vue, I noticed that the "boulevard" that led into the park from the second gate on Redgate Lane, appeared to still exist, sandwiched between the housing estate and the car auction place. I think it was a tarmac’ed roadway, wonder if its still there in the trees?

Its also interesting to see how much space would be created if the car auction and cinema were to be swept away. More than enough for a new Belle Vue, and maybe even more space than the original given that the old park didn’t have the top left hand corner, plus the speedway track and exhibition hall wouldnt be there.
Yeah well I can dream. I have happy memories of going here as a kiddie. Not in its best days admittedly, but it was another world, a bubble of fun in a grey city.
