Follows are Gerald Celente’s Forecasts for 2010: · The Crash of 2010: The Bailout Bubble is about to burst. Be prepared for the onset of the Greatest Depression.  · Depression Uplift: The pursuit of elegance and affordable sophistication will raise spirits and profits.  · Terrorism 2010: Years of war in Afghanistan and Iraq and now Pakistan have intensified anti-American sentiment. 2010 will be the year of the lone-wolf, self-radicalized gunman.   · Neo-Survivalism: A new breed of survivalist is devising ingenious stratagems to beat the crumbling system. And, they’re not all heading for the hills with AK-47’s and pork & beans.   · Not Welcome Here: Fueled by fear and resentment, a global anti-immigration trend will gather force and serve as a major plank in building a new political party in the US.  · TB or Not TB: With two-thirds of Americans Too Big (TB) for their own good (and everyone else’s), 2010 will mark the outbreak of a “War on Fat,” providing a ton of business opportunities.   · Mothers of Invention: Taking off with the speed of the Internet revolution, “Technology for the Poor” will be a major trend in 2010, providing products and services for newly downscaled Western consumers and impoverished consumers everywhere.   · Not Made In China: A “Buy Local,” “My Country First” protectionist backlash will deliver a big “No” to unrestrained globalism and open solid niches for local and domestic manufacturers.  · The Next Big Thing: Just as the traditional print media (newspapers/magazines) were scooped by Internet competition, so too will new communication technologies herald the end of the TV networks as we know them.

  • Why Do People Vote Against Their Own Interests?

    BBC News reports:

Last year, in a series of “town-hall meetings” across the country, Americans got the chance to debate President Obama’s proposed healthcare reforms.

What happened was an explosion of rage and barely suppressed violence.

Polling evidence suggests that the numbers who think the reforms go too far are nearly matched by those who think they do not go far enough.

But it is striking that the people who most dislike the whole idea of healthcare reform — the ones who think it is socialist, godless, a step on the road to a police state — are often the ones it seems designed to help.

In Texas, where barely two-thirds of the population have full health insurance and over a fifth of all children have no cover at all, opposition to the legislation is currently…

  • Close Encounter For Two Gold Prospectors

    MUFON Case # 21761
    Date/Time: 05/26/2008 23:10
    Location: Bass Lake, California
    Longitude:    -121.019
    Latitude:    36.1287
    Shape:  Disc
    Duration: 00:10:00
    Distance: 100 feet or less

Summary:  glowing disk 30-40 ft across, hoovering above the masive tree tops at about 5500 ft elevation in the mountains

    Report:
Wife and I went gold prospecting near my old claim outside the south east corner of Yosemite National Park.

We planned a 2 week trip, but only stayed the first 2 days.

In May, sometimes we have to stop and asked a ranger if the snow is clear and if we can get in the high country, the ranger lied and said the roads were closed and no way to get where we wanted to be.

We decided to drive up the mountain and see just how far we could go, and there was no snow, and the roads were clear all the way to camp.

We set up camp and had dinner, then watched a small plane circle my camp 2 times and left, then 1/2 hour later, a Chopper circled the camp 2 times and left close enough to see the pilots.

Then we went to bed and watched a movie before sleep, after the movie, my wife screamed out, LOOK AT THAT !!!

I looked thru the clear plastic roof of the tent and saw a glowing disk about 30-40 ft across, hovering above the camp just above the tree tops.

No need to say how excited we got. I was going to grab my camera and a gun and go outside to check it out, but then a bright light beamed down on us and we both passed out at the same time.

We woke up in our bed the next morning, and started talking about what we saw, and how strange it was that we passed out during so much excitement.

The 2nd night we saw it again, but no plane or chopper this time. It followed the same path as the first night, and we still had no chance to grab the camera or gun which was right beside me.

Day 2, we decided we had had enough, and we tore down the camp and went home, too afraid to stay for the 2 weeks we had planned.

I had my own gold claim in that area for 20 years, and I am not easy to frighten, but I never saw anything like it, and hope I never do again.  I will not go back to that area, unless it is to take investigators up there and I’m not going to stay long.

The Area: township 6-S. range 24-E. section 7, Mount Diablo Meridian, Madeira County CA. 2 miles south west of Lower Chiquito Creek campground, and about 25 miles west of Mammoth Pool.

  • Screwing The Bill Collectors By Suing

The Dallas Observer reports on a local resident who decided to have fun with his $100,000 debt. Army reservist Craig Cunningham realized that many debt collectors and creditors operate in brazenly illegal ways — and so has made a profitable second career for himself suing collectors and credit card companies:

In the next four years, Cunningham accused debt collectors of misrepresenting the amount he owed. He sued over prerecorded and auto-dialed calls to his cellular phone (a TCPA violation worth up to $1,500 per call). All told, he filed 15 other lawsuits in federal court without the help of a lawyer, earning himself settlements totaling more than $20,000.

Cunningham filed his lawsuit against Credit Management, L.P. in August 2009, claiming violations in the amount of around $200,000. The original bill for Time Warner…

  • Reefer Madness May Be Real

Can smoking marijuana heavily make you psychotic?

Legitimate studies point to marijuana use as a risk factor for developing schizophrenia. Filmmaker Bruce Mohun made The Downside Of High after his pot-smoking nephew descended into severe mental illness.

A person who uses marijuana regularly is twice as likely to become schizophrenic as someone who doesn’t, with those smoking before the age of 16 being four times as likely.

Acknowledgment a link between marijuana and paranoid schizophrenia does not necessarily bolster the argument for prohibition; one could argue that legalizing pot in fact help the problem, by leading to regulation, quality control, standards, and warning labels.

  • Internet Use and Depression Linked

At the risk of becoming depressed, here’s a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post on a British study tying internet use and depression (if you watched Doug Rushkoff’s excellent Frontline documentary ‘Digital Nation’ this news won’t be in the least bit surprising):

A “dark side” to the internet suggests a strong link between time spent surfing the web and depression, say psychologists. British scientists found that the longer people spent online, the less likely they were to be happy.

A small group of the worst affected individuals were both depressed and addicted. But it was not clear whether using the internet causes mental health problems, or whether people with mental health problems are drawn to the internet.

More work is needed to answer this “chicken and egg” question, say the researchers.

    Study leader Dr Catriona Morrison,…

  • $10 Million Bounty For A Brain-Computer Interface

Peter Diamandis just held a workshop at MIT discussing a $10 million “X-Prize” for building a brain-computer interface!

Besides the ability to communicate by thought, the article argues, a Brain-Computer Interface X Prize “will reward nothing less than a team that provides vision to the blind, new bodies to disabled people, and perhaps even a geographical ‘sixth sense’ akin to a GPS iPhone app in the brain.” And one software engineer argues the technology could become commercially available within the next 10 years.
