  • Exclusive: DEA Director Visits Afghanistan

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency is helping in the fight to take down what has been called Taliban’s nacro-insurgency.

In the first visit by a DEA administrator to an active war zone, Michele Leonhart is spending three days meeting with U.S., coalition and Afghan officials.

The DEA now has more than 90 special agents and support personnel deployed in Afghanistan. In the last 6 months, 3 DEA agents have been killed in action and another was wounded. I interviewed the DEA’s acting administrator while she was in Marjah – site of a major offensive against the Taliban last month.
