  • Questions for more experienced pumpers out there…

First, I have been on the Animas Ping and Dexcom for just over two months, and am still having some issues (albiet minor issues). I am still working on getting my I:C and ISF set properly. One problem is that I seem to get wuite different absorption/distribution of insulin depending on where the infusion set is. The best site seems to be my low back(lateral to my spine, and superior to my hip). The next best site is between my ribcage and hip, right in the middle of my flank. The third place I use is just under my ribcage on my back. The problem I’m having is that my ISF and I:C change as much as 66% between the sites. Does anyone have any experience with this, or any advice on the situation? I can’t use my abdomen, it really bugs me if I do. Plus, the absorption is by far the worst there (I am skinny all over, so I don’t know what gives?!?).

Second, does anyone put the Dexcom sensors on their back? If so, do you have any recommendations on placement techniques for a skinny guy? (I keep saying that I’m skinny only because I used to hit muscle with my 6mm infusion sets. I’ve figured out how to avoid that with the sets, but I don’t want to waste a Dexcom sensor by inadvertently poking into my Erector Spinae!)

Thanks in advance for any advice!

  • Any Animas/Dexcom news?

Has anyone heard anything about the Animas/Dexcom integrated system? Are there any pictures, dates, or any other types of news that have been released in the past month? I can’t wait for this to happen, and hope that it comes before I have to move 800 miles (end of June).

    Thanks!
