  • Not sure I’m really Diabetic

I apologize if these are dumb questions, but I’m really wondering if I am Type 2 even though my dr has given me that dx.

My morning BG levels are not that bad. The highest I have had is 126 but normally 110. My A1C is 6.3 which puts me at a diabetic dx.

I seem to have a lot of diabetic symptoms, muscle weakness, some neuropathy damage and 3 months I ended up in the ER because of rotator cuff tendionitis. When I had my stroke 5 years ago the neurologist said I had better get my blood sugar under control which at that point I wasn’t even being checked for sugar although I’m sure they ran that in the hospital but my primary dr never mentioned anything.

It seems my problem maybe spiking after eating and that is why my A1C is 6.3 I think. Last night I had a small salad with Rasberry fat free vingarette and 1 cup of chicken alfredo w/limited sauce and 2 hrs after I ate my BG was 175.

So would I really be classified as having diabetes?

  • Kidneys

I’m newly dx and have posted a little history in the Introduction thread.

I’m starting to panic just a little as I am reviewing all the tests results I had done and the problems popping up.

My actual calculated GFR is 72 which points to Stage 2 CKD, Kidney damage and mild decrease in GFR.

My doctor didn’t even discuss this with me. It seems totally scary and I had no idea anything was even going on with my kidneys.

My doctor is setting up an appointment with Diabetes Educators – should I wait and discuss the kidney thing with them or call the dr back?
