  • Great doctor’s visit !

I will update my siggy shortly but I went to see my primary doc this morning. A month ago I had labs after a very stressful 6 month period where I moved twice, suffered some financial setbacks, broke up with a long time boyfriend – all kinds of drama ! So I had been neglecting my health, taking my meds sporadically and definitely not eating right.

Well, my a1c was not so bad as I thought – 7.9 ! For the past month I have been eating so much better and been on top of my meds so things will be getting even better.

The best news of all is that I got medical clearance for my surgery ! All I need now is the insurance company to give approval.

I am going back on Simvastatin because my doc is convinced my tiredness is due to the anemia (I stopped taking it because I thought it made me exhausted). I got her to reduce the Actos because I have feet swelling and leg cramps at night. The only thing she said that irked me was that diabetes is progressive and despite making improvements in my life, it will still just get worse. Eh ? Whatever, I am still going to eat better and take care of myself and hope I can get off these meds one day. 🙂

  • Failed endo appointment

I waited a whole month for this appointment. This was to be my first appointment with an endo ever. I went to the doctor’s office – they told me the appointment was at a clinic around the corner. Mind you, it’s raining cats and dogs down here. By the time I got there, my pant legs were wet and so was my jacket.

I told everyone I was there to see Dr. O, the endo and I was referred by my primary care doctor. After about 2 hours of waiting, I asked someone when I was going to see the doctor. At that moment a resident came in the room. She told me the endo wasn’t there. Sometimes he comes there but he wasn’t there.

So how did I get an appointment with someone who wasn’t there ?? The resident got an attending and he was kind of nice to me. But no one knew what happened.

The problem is this – this guy was the only endo in the two counties close to me that takes my insurance. Or so the insurance company told me. And when I called his office later on, they said the next appointment would be another 3 weeks ! I felt really abused at this point. Especially since I had to pay $5 for parking and I hadn’t eaten or taken any meds.

It was such a rough morning I took a nap for several hours. I made some calls and managed to find another endo group who said they accept my insurance and it would only take a week to get an appointment.

Tomorrow I go see my regular doc and I really hate to see what my a1c is but at least I can tell her how well I’ve been doing since last month, going from 200s to fbg 119 in one month.

  • 120 before bed and 151 this morning !

And I didn’t eat or drink a drop of anything ! I did get up and take my son to school before I tested. Is this liver dump or dawn phenomenon ? Should I have tested when I arose ? I had been up about 45 minutes.
