  • Creating an Online Course Based on E-Learning 2.0 Concepts

I gave a presentation “Creating an Online Course Based on E-Learning 2.0 Concepts” at the 2011 TxDLA 14th Annual Confernce in San Antonio, Texas last week.  I want to take the opportunity to share my presentation here with my blog subscribers.  This presentation provided an overview of e-learning 2.0 concepts and described the process of designing, developing, and teaching an online course based on e-learning 2.0 concepts.  Also, lessons learned and students’ feedback regarding their opinions and experiences on taking my online courses based on e-learning 2.0 concepts were discussed in the presentation.  Below is an online version of my presentation at the 2011 TxDLA Conference.  Please feel free to provide suggestions and comments.  Thanks.

  • WordPress for BlackBerry 1.4.6.1 Security Update Available

WordPress for BlackBerry version 1.4.6.1 has been released to BlackBerry App World.

WordPress for BlackBerry 1.4.6.1 is a security update that also improves the communication layer within the app. To store your credentials, the app is now using a completely different, strongly encrypted storage model. Due to these changes, we’ve held back on developing new features in this release to make sure the transition to the new storage model is as smooth as possible. While the app should transfer your credentials to the new storage model, you might be forced to re-add your blogs/sites when updating. (Draft posts will not be erased, so once you have re-added a blog the old drafts should become visible again.)

    Other changes include:

    • You can now select which type of the Media API that should be used for uploading photos and videos.
    • Added the Preview for Private Posts/Pages
    • Improved the preview screen, which is now using the BlackBerry browser or any browser installed on your device.
    • Fix for VideoPress issue when uploading multiple videos #181.
    • Fix for app permission issues that could freeze the app if all permissions are not set to Allow #179.
    • Fix for postID that are bigger than the XML-RPC specification #180.
    • Improved the communication layer.
    • Improved the XML-RPC calls.
    • Fix for post/page comments setting that allow people to post comments on new articles created using the app #163.
    • Other minor changes.

Do you have questions or feedback on how we can make the app better? Please visit the WordPress for BlackBerry forums and tell us your thoughts! Also make sure to a follow @WPBlackBerry on Twitter for the latest news and updates.

Note: Depending on your region or country, you may not see the latest version in BlackBerry App World yet. However, the new release should be available for download on your device starting today.

  • Modern Warfare 2 single player demo hits PSN and Xbox LIVE

Though late, Activision released a single player demo for Modern Warfare 2 on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
    modern warfare 2
With this new demo of the game, gamers will be able to play the most recognized levels in MW2, Cliffhanger.

Players can start playing on a snowy cliff face, they dig out enemies in treacherous conditions, also get spotted and need to race for survival on snow under heavy enemy fire.

Many fans waited for about a year for the arrival of the demo to make up their mind to purchase it or not.

Now, the day has arrived to decide whether to buy it or not.

  • Hardened and Prestige Edition may also be seen in Black Ops

In 2009 Activision sparked sparked controversy when Modern Warfare 2 was launched. Many believed that the Collector’s Edition of MW2 was the most ridiculous one that has been ever seen for a video game.
    black ops
But, the Prestige Edition of the game sold out quickly which was priced at $150.

It is natural that consumers talk about their individual wallets. So, for Black Ops also Activision will be bringing back the Prestige Edition.

A leaked information was published on Elder-Geek.com and it indicates that it will feature regular, hardened and also prestige editions. Below are the SKU numbers:

Call of Duty: Black Ops Hardened Edition (PS3) – 047875840225
Call of Duty: Black Ops Hardened Edition (360) – 047875840218
Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Edition (PS3) – 047875840249
Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Edition (360) – 047875840232

The Hardened Edition of MW2 contained the game, an art book along with a token to download the CoD Classic. All these were packed in a slick-looking steel enclosure.

Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition had the aforementioned items along with a pair of night vision goggles. Well, nobody used the goggles though. So, Activision may include something useful this time such as a Zippo lighter or Hello Kitty umbrella.
