There has been a ton of Apple news lately. Open letters, reactions to open letters, cop dramas, and even Jon Stewart’s getting in on the act. So for the Apple haters out there, I’m sorry. It must be tough seeing something that irks you receive a lot of press. But we’d hardly be doing our jobs if we didn’t cover the good, bad and ugly in this mobile tech scene.
But if you’re not a hater, in fact if you’re looking forward to seeing what Apple has up its sleeve this summer, circle this date on your calendar: June 7, 2010.
Official word is here this is the opening date for the Worldwide Developer’s Conference (June 7 – 11), and historically, Apple has unveiled the new iPhone at the keynote for this event every year. So keep your eyes locked on that date.
Fan or no, what do you think’s going to happen, given the major leak that unfolded last week? That’s no simple question. In fact, it actually inspires more questions than answers.
Will the next-gen iPhone unveil as the same handset that’s been circulating all over the internet already? (The one that had Apple sic the police on Gizmodo?) Or will it look different than that flat-backed, double-camera’ed form factor we’ve all grown familiar with? Would Apple even have time to change anything since that hit the webs? Or do you think the prototype wasn’t really that close to production anyway? Could it even finally support Adobe Flash? (Sorry for the cruel joke. Wanted to make sure you were paying attention.)
If you’re going to lay any bets, you have a little over a month. Clock starts now.
Online dating site Match.com sent a letter from its lawyer to rival Plentyoffish.com last week, accusing it of citing statistics about itself and its members (like the fact that they’ll go on 18 million dates this year) that Match says can’t be supported. It then went on to “demand that [Plentyoffish] immediately cease and desist”… or provide Match with user data to back them up. Ever the friendly rival, Match’s lawyer said the company would be glad to sign a confidentiality agreement before taking a gander and Plentyoffish’s proprietary data. POF’s founder basically told Match to get lost, highlighting several figures that Match touts about its service, including one saying that an average of nearly 1000 people per day get married after first meeting on Match. To be honest, a lot of the figures cited by both parties are a little hard to believe, and sound like little more than attempts by the sites to sell hope to prospective users. But starting a fight over a rival’s claims — when all that’s likely to do is call attention to your own — may not be the wisest move for anybody in the online dating business.
Oh okay, well its getting a little much but here is another theme that’s portrayed after the new Metro UI. This theme is one of many that tries to grab the new WP7 look and feel, while keeping the current functionalities of WP6.5. This one is actually the most customized theme, and is something that people might find interesting.
This is actually pretty cool thought. It comes with many clocks, Metro slider, and Metro Bookmark/Web tab. The Web tab is my favorite, because as you can see in the left, it comes with those blue boxes we will have to get used to in our next UI.
The theme does not stop at the Sense version. It adds Metro ThumbCal themes, and even Metro a Metro theme for Slide2Shutdown.
This theme pretty much covers everything, only thing that’s left is the Menus should be changed to black and blue, and the boxes will be shown on selected apps(if you are reading this Cendaryn, you know what to do next.)
If you are not yet tired of all the WP7 themes and wallpaper, you can add this one more.
After Steve Jobs announced that he thinks Flash sucks, Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch replied with a blog post that we’re interpreting as “Yeah? Well, we’re taking our ball and going home!” Of course, he called it “moving forward” instead: More »
It’s been argued that Hurricane Katrina was one of George W. Bush’s biggest organizational failures, for the tragedy was allowed to fester on for way too long before his much-vaunted homeland security apparatus sprang into action.
Will the oil spill in the gulf — which some suspect could be worse than Exxon Valdez — be the equivalent for Barack Obama?
Today the story got elevated to national emergency level, but the explosion on the rig happened eight days ago!
Will numerous investigations will no doubt be launched into the companies behind the rig (BP, Transocean), will anyone ask what the DHS and The White House have been doing for 8 days, while an ecological disaster was unfolding in such a sensitive region?
We’re guessing that unlike Bush, Obama will largely get a pass. Katrina played into a narrative of Bush ignoring the plight of the poor and African-Americans. Nobody is suggesting that Obama is bad on the environment. Also, just generally, an ecological disaster won’t elicit the same kind of emotional response as a human tragedy (for good reason).
Let’s at least acknowledge the obvious opposite, that if we were currently in a Republican administration that had just okayed offshore drilling in America, and they had gone eight days without serious action, they’d be getting absolutely pilloried in the press.
The fact that the oil slick is lapping up against the Gulf Coast now and over the next several hours is just a cruel, but meaningless, Katrina-related coincidence.
Chrysler is in a sad state these days, but it is not beyond saving. Much has already been said about the unlikely alliance between Chrysler and Fiat, though little in the way of new products have been announced. We know Fiat plans on bringing the 500 to America, and there was the Chyrsler/Lancia Delta concept car. But nothing else we can wrap our eyes around.
Fiat has more than just small cars though. They have their own version of variable valve timing, called MultiAir. This system can increase power by 10% while decreasing fuel consumption by up to 30%. It was recently revealed that the MultiAir technology will be making its way into Chrysler cars.
I have a love/hate relationship with officers of the law. I was a bit of a wild child in my youth and ran afoul of the law more than once. On the flip side, I’ve been helped out by the police a number of occasions too, and I have several friends who have joined their ranks. Even with my checkered past, I always thought the police deserved better vehicles though. As good as the Crown Victoria was, it was basically the same car for the better part of three decades.
New York City, that perpetual metropolis, has recently decided to double its fleet of hybrid police vehicles by placing an order for 200 Ford Fusion and Escape Hybrids. This will add to their already sizable fleet of Altima Hybrids and Prius patrol vehicles.
Electric cars are coming; this much we know. After decades of promises, it seems like electric cars will finally be a reality. But it isn’t happening organically, or rather, due to consumer demand. Instead governments around the world are dolling out billions of dollars in low-interest loans and tax incentives to get people to buy electric cars. It is sort of like encouraging a kid to be nice by giving him candy.
However, a recent study by a collection of German environmental groups says that not only are the benefits of electric cars to the enviroment minimal, but the billions in incentives will “plunder treasuries” of governments worldwide. I wonder if pirates conducted the study?
It is an proven fact that a high protein diet is essential for muscle mass and growth. Muscular tissue like all other type of body flesh are made up of proteins. Proteins form the common building block for any kind of muscle progression to take place. By way of the pituitary gland and hypothalamus decrease proteins from high protein quality diets are also beneficial pertaining to the generation of all forms of tissues as though hair, nails, bones, muscular tissue, hormones, digestive support enzymes, antibodies together with countless others. In support of any form of growth to occur, proteins are unquestionably needed. Most typically associated with distinct benefit for musclemen is the concept that 60-70% of all proteins are located in muscular tissue. Provided with this fact, it is not surprising that there is a lot of nonsense between bodybuilders on high protein diets for muscle building. Let us all make an effort and get a much better understanding of the correct way high protein diet programs improve muscle building.
Proteins are made up of minor items referred to as amino acids. These are truly the smallest building blocks for the body that will making use of to build muscular tissue in a high protein diet. There are generally about twenty types of amino acids, and each and every one of these might be combined in all sorts of permutations down into proteins for lean muscle building. Of these 20, there are 2 types of amino acids – non-required and key amino acids. The non-essential variant will probably be provided by the body when ever needed. Whereas the latter sort of amino acids need to be ingested via a high protein diet. Of special point of interest to serious weightlifters are the required amino acids given that these find it hard to be manufactured by the body. They are nevertheless key for lean muscle building. That is the key reason why it is not uncommon to see musclemen scrutinizing their foodstuff and vitamin supplements to ensure that essential amino acids are found in what these people eat in a high protein food plan.
When it comes to planning their high protein diet programs, serious weightlifters often look for different sources of proteins in their foods. Very first on the list are full-scale proteins. These are basically a well-balanced mixture of key and non-required proteins you can find in the meal kinds of a high protein food plan. Good examples of complete protein sources normally include, lean beef, seafoods, egg whites, fish, protein powder and milk. The second type of proteins is the incomplete protein source which can be received in most whole grains, legumes and pinto and black beans. Truth be told , there are specified amino acids lacking in this category, despite the fact that they are yet needed in any high protein diet as some amino acids from this incomplete source are not received in other places. Then finally, there is veggie protein source. The protein from this particular source is received in fruit and vegetables and plant stuff only. To many serious weightlifters, looking for the source of their protein is very crucial to be sure that their tough training program will harvest maximal lean muscle growth. Sometimes, musclemen ingest so a large amount of protein into their program through their high protein food plan, that it may turn out to be counterproductive in their quest for lean muscle growth.
So does, a high protein food plan truly turns to solid lean muscle growth? Presently there are 2 schools of standard arguments for those of you who need it. On the one hand, conservative dietitians and health-related community has lengthy contended that the body merely requires its Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of protein, which is approximately 0.8 grams per kilogram of weight. Anything in surplus will be thrown away. On the other part, ‘protein pushers’ with their approved high protein diet recommends taking 400-500 grams of proteins in a single day. This is way in excess of the RDA. Cutting-edge study has proven that, enhanced training routines have leaded to an greater utilization of proteins within the body. For this reason, additional proteins from the high protein food plan is definitely needed to activate maximal lean muscle growth. In other words, for any demanding training bodybuilder, the additional protein stipulated in a high protein diet is practical. However, it might be wise to not over use proteins, as there are unwanted effects and damaging results to muscle growth. It is necessary to reach a sense of balance between spending in more proteins in a high protein food plan to stimulate development, and at the same time, make sure that only the demanded quantity is eaten to prevent unintended side effects from happening.
Workout to get muscle growth is a difficult practice concerning amino acid permutations and usage. This has to be done in a way whereby it is correctly joined together with a high protein diet plan to stimulate maximal development for the athlete.

Has anyone done the “low carb-high protein diet” and did it work for weight loss?
I just had a baby 6 weeks ago and gained 62 lbs. with the pregnancy. So far I’ve lost 34 and still have 28 to go!
I’m trying the high protein-low carb diet …. but eating healthy protein (chicken, fish, turkey, etc.)
has this diet worked for anyone??? did you lose weight? and how long did it take???
and how many carbs did you eat per day???
Thanks!
Yeah it works…it’s not really good for you at all, but it will burn fat quickly. It’s not designed for long term weight loss, though…while most low-carb dieters lose more weight in a few weeks than people who eat a healthy, balanced diet and exercise, after about a year low-carb dieters and balanced-diet exercisers all lose about the same amount. Plus, it’s hard to keep the weight off unless you reincorporate carbs very very gradually. Keep in mind, though, a low carb diet will probably make you grumpy, as carbohydrates can be linked to serotonin levels in the brain. High protein diets usually also involve high levels of fat, and are bad for your liver and kidneys because they have to work harder to process all the extra fat and protein. So be very careful with these diets, and don’t try them for long periods of time. I would say 6 weeks, most. Check out the South Beach diet, it seems more realistic than the Atkins.

Well, what have we here? It looks like the W-iFi Alliance certified a new Motorola smartphone today! The Motorola MB810 just popped up on the WFA site having received certification for IEEE Standard 802.11b/g/n. If the model number doesn’t sound familiar to you, maybe the rumored name will ring a bell. Mid-January of this year a Motorola device with a full QWERTY slider keyboard popped up on the scene briefly, some were calling it the Motorola Shadow and others named it the Nexus Two.
In any case this could be the very same device, and after doing a little research all signs are pointing to the Shadow. Some of the rumored specs of the Shadow are as follows:
4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen
Full QWERTY slider keyboard
8MP Camera with autofocus
microSD up to 32GB
Android 2.2 (Froyo)
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (clearly)
Bluetooth 2.1
It looks like the Shadow is a GSM device and will probably be headed to AT&T. The phone is rumored to be released in Q2 2010 which means you could be hearing a lot more about the Shadow soon and potentially have one in your hands by the end of the summer. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one, so keep checking the site for updates.
OK slider fans, I know you’ve been waiting for this one, so lets hear it in the comments!
When we usually speak of a lock screen, we are talking about something very simple like the WM6.5 lock screen, or even S2U2, but this one is not that simple. This new lock screen created by slackersink, who resides in the HD2 forum is a very peculiar one. It does not come with directions or instruction, but from the image it seems to have much information all in one place, but I am not quite sure where the unlock part is.
The lock screen to me looks like a map of my locale Mall of America(the biggest Mall in the world) except it has some good details like time, date, notifications, and more.
When you read the title it says it is suppose to be a Star Trek related lock, but for the life of me, I do not know what that is or plan to learn the nature of it(okay, I know what it is… but never watched it).
Thankfully the creator wrote a little note for us to know before using his new look screen:
My first mod, the LCARS Lockscreen! Make your lockscreen resemble the panels on the Enterprise! Yay! Also included, the original files they replaced.
Ahem…
Anyway, here is a zip file of everything needed to make your own lcars lockscreen. It’s a zip because apparently the cabs I had up here didn’t work properly… Can’t beat placing real files yourself, I guess. haha
– Instructions:
First- Add files in the icons folder to windows\ directory in phone. Just the icons in the folder, not the full folder. Either use icons in the zip or install the icons cab file.
Second- Add lcarswallpaper.png and LS_LockScene_480×800.cpr to windows\lockscreen.
Third, reset the phone and you’re done!
I’ve also included the original files for what this mod changes in case you want to revert back. –
I have no lockscreen mods, cookie’s home tab lockscreen is set to the default lockscreen so it won’t interfere, or anything aside from the memclock app as you can see on the top right of the screenshot so I can’t guarantee it will work with any mods. Like I said, This is my first so I apologize if it doesn’t work properly on your HD2. As far as mine goes, everything lines up perfectly.
Restart your phone and enjoy!
When you tap the slider to get your notifications, the calendar and clock disappear. I don’t know how to keep them their the entire time. If anyone can help with that, I’d appreciate it.

The Bentley Continental Supersports sees custom modifications by the German tuning firm Wheelsandmore. As their name implies, Wheelsandmore installed sport wheels and tires in addition to new brake and suspension systems. Striking under-hood tweaks also grace this modification package. Already Bentley’s fastest and most powerful coupe, Wheelsandmore took the Bentley Continental Supersports from 630 HP to 702 bhp and 650 lb-ft torque via their in-house ECU tuning upgrade, custom stainless steel exhaust, and special sport catalysts.
Large (16.54 inch) carbon ceramic brakes stop the special 21” matte-black and red-racing striped lightweight wheels, while wrapped in Dunlop Sport Maxx tires. “LowMaXX” suspension automatically drops the car around 0.79 inches once it reaches 70 km/h. Buyers of the Wheelsandmore Bentley Continental Supersports will need these modifications. The company’s tweaks allow this improved package to reach a hair-straightening top speed of 336 km/h!

Are you one of those super nerds that think its okay to have your device start up with a BIOS gif? Well I am too, and I found this CAB laying around XDA, that I though you might be interested in. The image is nothing more than an animated GIF that brings up something similar to a BIOS page, but thankfully has some accurate information that other nerds like us might find cool.
The post has a BIOS page for the basic European HD2, and then an image for the more advanced T-mobileUSA version, with more things(okay guys, just pulling your strings.)
Well if your in the mode to try out a new look/startup on your Windows Phones… Then follow this link, and head over to XDA for the lowdown.
2011 BMW M5 testing at the Nurburgring – Click above to watch video after the jump
The 2011 BMW M5 has been caught on video doing its thing around the ‘Ring, and by “doing its thing” we really mean shredding the life out of the rear tires. Judging from the quick video, the massive sedan seems to have no problem hustling through the banked curves of every automaker’s favorite test track.
BMW has kept its lips sealed when it comes to what exactly is under the hood of the next-generation M5 or when the lowly public will be able to get their greedy paws on the finished product. Rumor has it the German automaker has ditched the big, naturally-aspirated V10 we all know and love in favor of the same twin-turbocharged V8 found at the heart of X5 M and X6 M. If true, that means the car is packing somewhere around 578 horsepower in its arsenal.
As for when we’ll finally see this big beastie without its psychedelic camouflage, your guess is as good as ours. In the mean time, hit the jump to see the uber sedan tackle the ‘Ring.
Well hot diggity dawg. According to Verizon, “high demand” has pushed the DROID Incredible back (online, at least) to May 7th availability. That’s three additional days than earlier today, when the ship date was May 4th. From what I’ve gathered, most stores received a decent amount of the devices, so there’s always a possibility that you can find one in a retail store. To recap, the Incredible offers a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, Android 2.1 with HTC’s Sense UI, an 8.0-megapixel camera, and an optical navigation pad.
Clearly, there’s incredible (pun intended) demand for the device, but a key question remains: will Verizon be able to hold at May 7th, or will the date continue to be pushed back? Let’s hear your stories – have you received your Incredible? Waiting for it to arrive? Frustrated because the order date has been pushed back? Sound off below!
Steve Jobs fired the latest salvo in the ongoing Apple-Adobe spat today, with his “Thoughts on Flash” posted on the Apple site. In short, he says that Adobe looking out just for its own interests in drawing developers to its “100% proprietary” Flash ecosystem while Apple supports a great, open standards-based world. But just as we pointed out a couple of weeks ago when Apple moved to block cross-platform development tools, regardless of what Apple says, its interest is locking developers into its Apple-controlled and dominated ecosystem. Nearly every accusation Jobs levels at Adobe and its products can be made about Apple and the way it seeks to control iPhone app development. Jobs brings up Apple’s support for open Web standards, but that’s really little more than a red herring to distract attention from how Apple wants to lock down developers into its own ecosystem. Jobs makes it clear that he has no interest in developers using any platform apart from the iPhone, and any tool that helps them do so is worthy of his scorn. So for him to talk about supporting Web standards — with the point being that they’re standards, available across platforms — is disingenuous when Apple’s strategy for apps is guilty of pretty much everything he accuses Adobe of. None of this, on a strategic level, is particularly reprehensible, they’re just business decisions (even if we don’t agree with the approach). But Apple’s apparent insistence on playing by a different set of rules to everyone else, and the hot air that accompanies it, grates just a little bit.
