  • United Kingdom Media’s Covert Racism Laid Bare

UK media’s covert racism laid bare

    By Philip Dzumbunu
    Zimbabwe Herald

ANYONE who lives in Britain would have been shocked by the way the murder of Eugene Terre’Blanche — the white supremacist and racist leader of Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB) — was portrayed in that country’s media.

    It was almost unbelievable!

Terre’Blanche was an undefiant, divisive person who never repented. After his release from prison for killing a black person, he quipped: ‘‘I was never wrong to honour my heritage and to love my people, and to be there when they called me!’’

I hear the world’s media descended in droves on Ventersdorp ahead of Terre’Blanche’s funeral on Friday, with guest houses in the normally sleepy North West town inundated with bookings.

‘‘We have never experienced anything like this; we have had bookings from journalists in France, Spain, Germany,’’ said the owner of the Ruimte Guest House on the edge of Ventersdorp.

‘‘I am sending all my bookings to the other guest houses in town. It’s all journalists and they may have a problem because many of them can’t speak Afrikaans. They’ll need translators to help them get around Ventersdorp.’’

Terre’Blanche, the evil, racist, far right Boer was beaten and hacked to death on his farm outside Ventersdorp two weeks back after a wage dispute, apparently. The status he was accorded was unbelievable and made a lot of people cringe.

Sky News and BBC even substituted the return of golfer Tiger Woods and the election campaigns of Prime Minister Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg to televise the death of a man who advocated division in South Africa and the perpetuation of Apartheid.

What was more interesting was that there was another story running concurrently with the burial of that racist Boer: the story of ANC Youth League president Julius Malema kicking out a British journalist, Jonah Fisher, out of the ANC headquarters for constant interruption as he gave his brief on a recent trip to Zimbabwe.

The BBC almost crucified Malema for that incident, and remained quiet about Fisher’s uncouth and unbefitting conduct.

Interestingly, the BBC reported that: ‘‘Terre’Blanche’s killing has unearthed racial tensions in the small town — tensions which are a rarely spoken fact of life in many South African rural farming communities.’’

Where was the BBC over the last 10 or so years? It wasn’t Terre’Blanche’s killing, but his life, that encouraged ‘‘racial tensions’’ in South Africa.

One commentator wrote: ‘‘The tone of BBC journalists in Africa has always been to undermine and patronise . . . If you follow the reports of Eugene Terre’Blanche on the BBC website, there is almost a sadness, a sense of regret from his death by the BBC. Suddenly the brute is sanitised and spoken of in almost reverent terms.’’

British newspapers also warned of ‘‘an impending race war ahead of the 2010 Soccer World Cup’’, because of Terre’Blanche’s murder. Unbelievable!

Do they think this man was so loved that his killing would almost spark a national crisis? What exactly do they think about South Africa that we do not know? We thought Zimbabwe was the worst country in their eyes.

The British Daily Star newspaper, under the headline ‘‘World Cup machete threat’’, warned of ‘‘machete gangs roaming the streets’’ of South Africa after Terre’Blanche’s murder.

The newspaper warned that a ‘‘civil war’’ could erupt and threaten South Africa’s hosting of the World Cup.

Unfortunately calm returned to Ventersdorp despite the BBC and other media’s scaremongering.

The racism of the media in Britain has gone unchallenged, unquestioned leaving many minorities without any faith in the media or any voice with which to counter the racial stereotypes it perpetuates.

One need only glance at the daily British papers to read reports of Yardie drug gangs, fraudulent asylum seekers, foreign prostitute rings, and the perpetually negative portrayal of entire ethnic communities by the media.

The UK Commission for Racial Equality chair Trevor Phillips talked about tackling the snowy peaks of industry. In the media, particularly the mainstream printed press, there are snowy lowlands with almost all-White newsrooms.

These newsrooms have fostered a distorted and pernicious public perception of Africans and African countries, especially Zimbabwe.

President Mugabe spent almost all of his political life called names by the BBC media. From day one, he was called a terrorist for fighting imperialism and colonialism.

The history of Africans is a centuries old struggle against oppression and discrimination. The BBC and international media have played a key role in perpetuating the effects of this historical oppression and in contributing to Africans’ continuing status as second-class citizens on their own continent.

As a result, many white people have suffered from a deep uncertainty as to who Africans really are. This has raised doubts, amongst many Africans, about the white man’s value system.

Indeed, it has also aroused the troubling suspicion that whatever the ‘‘white media’’ reports on Africa is untrue.

The social, political and economic factors of racism have become more than just a bias. They are also a profitable industry, in which the West will continue to suppress the developing world in order to maximise profits.

One fact remains: international, especially British media is not as impartial as it claims to be. The world is still a ‘‘white, white world’’.

Liberation, reactionary movements do not mix

EDITOR. — The axiom, a friend in need is a friend indeed rings true for Zanu-PF and all other liberation movements around the world that have stood by the party from the days of liberation struggle to date.

Relations that exist between Zanu-PF and these movements are unshakeable and cannot be broken even by the imperialists who are working day and night to divide us so that they can exploit that division to their advantage.

Liberation movements that fought and defeated colonialism lead all governments in Sadc, with the exception of a few.

There is no way these comrades-in-arms can today turn against each other to please the erstwhile coloniser.

Today liberation movements are under pressure from the West to “reform” — which is Western language for ‘‘forget your history”.

Cuba has been under illegal US economic sanctions for 50 years for refusing to ‘‘reform’’ and Zimbabwe today is also under a sanctions regime designed to pressure it to depose Zanu-PF.

The recent visit by ANC Youth League president Cde Julius Malema reaffirms our strong relations as liberation movements.

Malema came here as a true friend and representative of the ANC.

He came here as a guest of the liberation movement that helped free his country.

The noise MDC-T has been making simply because Malema did not include their party on his itinerary is absurd.

What do they have in common with the ANC that would see Malema visit Harvest House?

MDC-T’s friends are in the so-called Democratic Alliance for the simple reason that MDC-T represents the interests of the very people who are fighting the ANC and Zanu PF.

They are trying to force some friendship with the ANC the same way they are trying to force the Chinese Communist Party to be their friends.

Reactionary movements and liberation parties do not mix, they are like oil and water.

The joke in town is that MDC-T is so ahistorical that it has sent a message of condolence to the AWB movement in South Africa over the death of the racist Eugene Terre’Blanche who was fighting against black majority rule till his dying day.

Those are the characters that can come calling at Harvest House not Cde Malema.

  • Villaraigosa and other L.A. city leaders release lists of gifts

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s all-expenses-paid vacation to South Africa last July, provided by the group Academy of Achievement, was valued at $17,346 — topping the list of gifts he received in 2009, city records show.

During his trip to the Los Angeles-themed Guadalajara International Book Fair in November, Villaraigosa also came home with three art pieces, cuff links and a $75 bottle of tequila courtesy of Mexican dignitaries.

A list of gifts the mayor received in 2009, as well as his major assets and other economic interests, was released Tuesday by the city Ethics Commission along with those for other city elected officials. Under state law, elected officials have to file a statement of their financial interests every year.

City Atty. Carmen Trutanich also had a pretty good year. He collected $32,000 in rent in 2009 for his $2.3-million home in the Naples section of Long Beach. The city attorney, who lives in Harbor City, also received cigars and a humidor as gifts, along with a few neckties.

The records also show Controller Wendy Greuel owns an interest in a building supply company worth $600,000. City Council President Eric Garcetti collected about $300,000 from his financial stake in a Beverly Hills beauty salon.  And Councilman Richard Alarcon reported receiving a $100 suite ticket to the Dodgers’ Oct. 7 playoff game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Villaraigosa reported receiving more than $2,300 in gifts, including a $65 pair of cuff links from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and a $50 tie from former Assembly Speaker Willie Brown.
The mayor also received $23,319 in “travel payments, advances and reimbursements,’’ which included travel for public policy speeches he gave to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and the U.S. Hispanic Leadership Institute.

The nine-day trip to Africa was for an Academy of Achievement event that assembled graduate students from around the world to meet with "the greatest thinkers and achievers of the age," according to the group’s website.

Villaraigosa was accompanied by Lu Parker, a KTLA-TV Channel 5 reporter the mayor is dating.
The free travel expenses, however, did not include the cost of sending the mayor’s Los Angeles Police Department security detail. According to KTLA reporter Eric Spillman, the city picked up that $12,800 tab.

  • Quinn plans to sign bill to cut state pension costs

Posted by Ray Long at 10:05 p.m.

SPRINGFIELD–Gov. Pat Quinn plans on Wednesday to sign legislation aimed at saving billions of dollars through reforms of the state pension system that will increase the retirement age and cut benefits for new employees.

The move would give Quinn and lawmakers a chance to crow about big savings that would take effect years down the road, potentially $119 billion over 35 years.

Estimates on how much the move could help the state’s current financial gap of up to $13 billion for the budget year beginning July 1 are far less. They range from $300 million to $1 billion.

Further, the pension legislation is not expected to whittle down the state’s worst-in-the-nation pension debt of $77 billion to $90 billion, critics of the legislation have argued.

Future savings are expected to come from increasing the general retirement age to 67 from 62 or lower in many cases, as well as limiting the salary level on which pension benefits are based. The legislation also would strike at one form of double-dipping by banning public employees from getting a pension from one government while collecting a salary from another.

Quinn’s office announced the Wednesday bill signing ceremony in a press advisory this evening.

  • Michelle Obama Covers Good Housekeeping to Celebrate 125 Years

Can you believe that Good Housekeeping has been around for 125 years? When I read that the magazine was celebrating 125 years in publishing I was surprised. Since 1885 many women have been consulting Good Housekeeping for tips on everything from fashion to time-saving recipes. My only memories of the magazine was a quick glance I would give it every once in a while as a child when my Grandmother had a subscription.

In this age of digital media the magazine is beckoning a new generation of readers with its website and featuring the ultimate game changer, First Lady Michelle Obama, on the May cover of their 125th anniversary issue. In an interview with the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Rosemary Ellis, Mrs Obama chats about raising the weeMichelles with the help of the First Grandmother, her private time with the President, keeping in touch with girlfriends, Mother’s Day, and one of her favorite foods.

One of my favorite parts of the interview is her response when asked about how she deals with the constant scrutiny of her marriage.

RE: …Let me ask you about another aspect of your life: It can’t be easy to have your marriage under such scrutiny. How do you separate yourself from the really nasty criticism?

MO: I just don’t take it in. It’s like anything — you know, I take in the healthy stuff in my life, and there’s a lot of it. There’s an abundance of it. And then you chalk everything [else] up to, Not everybody’s gonna love ya. You know? We learned that when we were kids. That was one of the messages my mom said: “You’re not on this earth to make everybody love you. You do what you think is right, you treat other people well, and then you keep living your life.”

How nice it would be if  everyone lived under that same tenet. Maybe then we could stop getting emails about how many aides the First Lady has and maybe just maybe people would stop asking how much her trip to Haiti cost.

The First Lady is number 6 on the magazine’s list of “125 Women That Changed History”. Mrs Obama is joined by 1. Oprah Winfrey, 2. Hillary Rodham Clinton, 3. Mother Teresa, 4. Rosa Parks, 5. Eleanor Roosevelt, 7. Amelia Earhart, 8. Princess Diana, 9. Marie Curie, and 10. Margaret Thatcher to name a few. The women were chosen by a reader’s poll. That kind of explains the bizarre order of the list. To view the complete list of 125 visit Good Housekeeping. com.

The May issue is available now on newsstands.

  • Sticker Shock—The Taxing of America

We are being taxed into oblivion. No, income taxes have not risen for most of us, at least not yet. Yet slowly and surely the tax vice is closing in. It is all part and parcel of President Obama’s run and gun break towards socialism.

Of course you won’t find newsmakers in agreement with your humble reporter, at least not within the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal or on the front page of The New York Times. Not because they are corrupt or leftists. Rather because Obama has done too good a job in obscuring the truth about the American economy and his own ambitions.

Take the energy situation. No sooner had the White House won modest acclaim for offshore drilling than they did an about-face and announced their intention to tighten their grip on one of the few remaining bastions of freedom—the open road.

This month the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) set new regulations covering vehicle efficiency. The new rule requires that United States cars and light trucks meet an average fuel-economy standard of 35.5 miles per gallon by 2016.

    Dying To Be Green
Administration officials say manufacturers can meet the targets mostly with existing technology and without drastically altering consumers’ choices of vehicles.

There is just one catch; to meet the EPA’s new standard average, new-vehicle prices will rise by an additional $1,100 between now and 2016. It is just further evidence that going green is neither cheap nor easy. In fact it turns out to be a killer.

A report produced last summer by the Obama administration’s own National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) underscored that while clap-trap cars get better gas mileage, occupants are more likely to die in accidents. The fatality rate in small cars is twice that of larger cars. By NHTSA’s cold calculations an additional 493 Americans will die each year. It seems that the big wigs in Washington can live with this since everything from the presidential limousine to cabinet staff cars are going to remain big and, oh yes, gasoline powered. It’s a policy of: “Save a tree, kill a driver.”

The EPA’s mandate is fraught with other problems. Detroit is hanging on by the skin of its teeth in large part thanks to the billions of dollars in federal bailouts ($50 billion to General Motors alone). Despite all that help, membership in the United Auto Workers Union (UAW) has hit a post-World War II low. Last week it was reported that UAW had 355,191 members at the end of 2009. That was down 18 percent from the year before and leaves the union with less than a quarter of the membership it had in 1979.

You would think with the recession still ongoing America could ill afford to make cars more expensive. Then again, the Federal government probably has contingency plans for another stimulus package, one that will give Washington even a greater say over the economy.

    Stall Baby Stall
Another industry not yet out of the woods is petroleum. Obama’s offshore oil drilling proposal has not spurred North American oilmen to roll out the oil rigs. Executives in the industry I have talked to are sceptical of a plan that is rife with challenges and chockfull of regulatory hoops.

Consider the Atlantic Coast. A previously planned lease sale off the Virginia coast will go forward, but not until 2012 and only then if it passes review under the National Environmental Policy Act. Furthermore, public meetings will be held on all affected coastal areas this summer to set up Environmental Impact Studies. They will take at least a year. If that goes well then there will be a three month public comment period. Then more analyses and finally—yes finally—an impact statement sent to the Secretary of the Interior. And if the Greens don’t like what the secretary has to say they can go to court. As you can see, the red tape is certain to stretch further than the wells themselves.

Meanwhile, drilling along the ripe west coast and the plum parts of Alaska—regions that Congress approved in 2008—are now off limits.

If you think that petroleum’s importance will soon be diminished by Obama’s Green Revolution, a story out of Texas should give you pause.

According to the April 5 issue of Texas Watchdog, “If the people of Bedford, Texas, are still borrowing whatever they are calling books in 72 years, they may find themselves in the public library on the very day the energy saved by the library’s planned solar power system finally equals the cost to build it.”

I don’t know about you, but I will only be 124 when solar power like that at the Bedford Library starts paying dividends. Things are even better for Austin Community College. The college, with the help of Federal stimulus dollars, can equip two of its campuses with solar energy. The savings commence in 2062!

So far 32 projects in Texas have been given stimulus dollars by the State Energy Conservation Office. They are 80 percent paid for by taxpayers. Texas alone has locked in $290 million Federal tax dollars for green energy programs via the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

So far the Federal government has set aside $17 billion for the Department of Energy to waste money on things like solar power in Texas. Instead of lending money for things that might pay off during the next ice age the government should be selling offshore oil leases.

Rising Interest Rates Will Tax Everyone
Unfortunately we have bigger immediate problems than Washington’s lamebrain economic policies. The yield on 10-year Treasuries has just climbed above 4 percent. That is the highest rate in nearly a year. Rising Treasury yields portend to rising interest rates across the board. Rates will continue to climb as Treasury auctions are met with dwindling bids by investors near and far.

Little wonder the U.S. dollar continues to weaken (the Canadian Loonie is now trading above par) and the flood of new Treasury debt continues to swell. Last week alone the Treasury sold $82 billion (yes billion) in notes and bonds. At that pace the Treasury will add another $4 trillion to America’s already staggering $12.8 trillion debt by next spring.

The Democrats mismanagement of the economy on everything from industry to energy is certain to push interest rates higher—much, much higher.

Action To Take: Sell all debt instruments such as bonds and anything longer than a three-month Treasury bill. Use the funds to buy physical gold in the form of non-numismatic 1-ounce coins. Also, if you have to carry debt, say for a mortgage, lock in your interest rate. It is essential you rid you and your family of any variable interest rate loans.

Yours for real wealth and good health,

  • A Tax-Day Poem

This is Tax Week, as every wage earner in America is all too aware. As you contemplate how much you pay the government for the privilege of living in this wonderful country, you might amuse yourself by repeating the following. (Sorry, I don’t know who the author is. If you do, please tell me.)

Tax his land, tax his bed,
Tax the table at which he’s fed.
Tax his tractor, tax his mule,
Teach him taxes are the rule.

Tax his cow, tax his goat,
Tax his pants, tax his coat.
Tax his ties, tax his shirt,
Tax his work, tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco, tax his drink.
Tax him if he tries to think.
Tax his cigars, tax his beers,
If he cries, then tax his tears.

Tax his car, tax his gas,
Find other ways to tax his a**.
Tax all he has, then let him know
That you won’t be done ‘till he has no dough.

    When he screams and hollers,
    Tax him some more.
Tax him ‘till he’s good and sore.
Then tax his coffin, tax his grave.
Tax the sod in which he’s laid.

Put these words upon his tomb,
“Taxes drove me to my doom.”
When he’s gone, do not relax.
It’s time to apply the inheritance tax.

  • Mary Meeker’s Internet Trends: The Future is Mobile

Internet analyst Mary Meeker from Morgan Stanley presented a report on Internet trends at Events@Google yesterday. Echoing those trends identified in her 2009 presentation, the report focuses on the rapid and continued growth of the mobile internet and social networking. Claiming that the world has entered the fifth major technology cycle, Meeker predicts that this cycle will be marked by the adoption of mobile Internet technologies, as the trends of “3G + Social Networking + Video + VoIP + Impressive Mobile Devices” converge. Meeker predicts the mobile Internet will be bigger than desktop in five years, noting that by comparing iPhone and iPod touch versus AOL and Netscape users, that mobile Internet is ramping up at a rate far faster than desktop did. Furthermore, she argues that 3G coverage has reached a global inflection point, meaning it is available to at least 20% of the world’s cellphone users.

    Sponsor

While the trends Meeker identifies in her report will be familiar to ReadWriteWeb readers, it is worth considering how some of what she observes might impact startups, providing opportunities for new business ventures.

Mobile E-Commerce: Not only is mobile increasingly the method by which users are accessing the Internet, Meeker contends that mobile will revolutionize e-commerce, forcing both innovations for both online and brick-and-mortar companies. She identifies location-based services, push notifications, transparent pricing, and instant mobile delivery as four potential areas this will occur.

Virtual Goods: The success of Tencent, with over $2 billion in sales of virtual goods in China, demonstrates the potential for this area, Meeker argues

Applications: Noting the success of both Facebook and Apple in the app market, what Meeker labels as “vibrant developer / application platform ecosystems, ” she suggests that companies will continue to leverage social networks for fans and for revenue.

Video: Meeker’s research points to video as outpacing VoIP and other resources people seek to access with their mobile devices.

Look to Japan: Meeker points to the Japanese social networking site Mixi, who has seen its mobile page views increase from 17% of total views three years ago to 72% today.

It is clear that social networks and mobile Internet will continue to play a huge role in shaping the future of technology and business development.

  • TF410: economical laser marking

TF410, the new fibre laser marking solution from Technifor, is the entry-level version for medium and large run applications: automotive, medical, electrical or mechanical components, etc. Particularly economical, TF410 has a 10 W laser and retains the compactness and guarantees the proven performance in terms of marking quality and writing speed that have made the earlier 20 W model, the TF420, so successful.

Fitted with a 10 W laser (instead of 20 W for the TF420), the TF410 can execute most “shallow depth” marking applications for medium and large runs.

The first outstanding advantage of the TF410 is its ease of integration. Its 1.06 mm laser light source housed in the separate control unit, its new-generation electronics and its small number of optical components result in a marking head that occupies a volume of only 10 dm3, half that of the previous models (diode-pumped laser). The light beam is conducted to the marking head by an optical fibre. The separate control unit can be mounted in a 19″ rack and incorporates a built-in buffer memory.

TF410 naturally offers all the advantages of fibre lasers, in particular longer lifetime and improved reliability.

The TF410 marking solution includes Technifor’s intuitive and ergonomic T700W marking program. Its interface can be used to program the simplest markings in less than five clicks. It manages traceability data (serial number, variables, Data Matrix codes, bar codes, etc.) and can easily establish links with production databases (ODBC, Excel, ASCII, etc.). Logo marking is also possible (PLT, JPEG, BMP, DXF). Materials libraries with pre-programmed settings are provided, along with the generation of log files.

The TF410 system can apply high-contrast markings to a wide range of materials, including plastics, metals and ceramics, and to difficult surfaces such as steels and titanium. It offers a large number of marking variants thanks to its spatial and temporal optical quality.

Technifor offers an optional integration and customization aid, and other integration module options including an automatic plate feed and a turntable. Marking of samples or first production items is also possible.

  • Winter testing: expert support during test runs under extreme conditions

In order to optimise processes inside an engine, it is extremely important to have a true picture of the actual running conditions. In addition to their work on the test stand, application engineers have to be able to carry out test runs with the help of a mobile and compatible combustion analysis system.

Kistler has therefore launched the new mobile combustion analysis system KiBox® To Go, which is specifically designed for use in vehicles. This enables all important combustion values to be accurately determined in real time. Many customers have already taken advantage of the offer to borrow and test the KiBox® for a few weeks.

However, how the KiBox® and the associated measuring systems could be used to the best advantage was demonstrated by Kistler experts during the winter test at the beginning of March at the Arctic Falls test ground, north of the polar circle. The extremely low temperatures during the tests placed high demands on people and equipment. It is difficult to correct wrongly laid cables at –30°C, and condensation is a constant problem for measuring equipment. The Kistler on-site service team enabled customers to quickly obtain and evaluate top-quality combustion data during the tests.

Background information about the test track
The Arctic Falls testing ground in Sweden is an excellently equipped, 200-hectare fenced-off site that can be hired to different car firms simultaneously. For the private operator of the testing ground, confidentiality and safety are the utmost priority. This promotes trust. In 5 separate workshops with associated offices, work and testing can be carried out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The testers can contact their development centre back home through a high-speed Internet connection. Circuits of various sizes, skid pans, handling tracks and bad road surfaces meet the needs of all vehicle developers. In particular, the 27 cold chambers (which go down to –40°C) enable engineers to carry on testing regardless of the weather.

  • JUMO TB/TW 08: The new temperature limiter and monitor to DIN EN 14 597….

The new TB/TW 08 extends JUMO’s existing portfolio of instruments that can be used in the functional safety range to EN 14 597. Using this freely configurable, 48 mm x 96 mm instrument can reduce to a minimum the potential risks to people, property or the environment inherent in systems or operational processes. The primary task of the temperature limiter and monitor is to safely monitor thermotechnical processes, and bring systems to a safe operating state in the event of a fault. Although the practical functionality of the instrument was a priority in its conception, its design has not been neglected. Linear in form and characterized by features such as an ultra-flat front panel and a brilliant display, the instrument can fit in with the design of more sophisticated systems, and round off the overall concept. The display is clearly set out and shows all the process values relevant to safety. Additional LEDs also indicate whether system function is OK, or whether a warning alarm or a main alarm has been triggered. The two measurement inputs, with 17 linearizations, are freely configurable for resistance thermometers and thermocouples, as well as for current, voltage or differential measurement. The approvals that come as standard, such as UL to DIN 60 730-2-9, and a standard-compliant device concept to DIN EN 14 597, allow the instruments to be used worldwide in systems that demand functional safety. The TB/TW 08 has two relay outputs (warning alarm and K1; in the event of an error, it switches to the safe state), a binary input and a standard setup interface. When the limiter function is active, it is possible to re-enable the system with an internal or external reset button. Also available as an instrument option is an analog output, which can forward the process-relevant values to a recorder or controller, or to a control system. Additional features, such as password-protected access, adjustable level inhibition and conscious confirmation (double confirmation), when relevant changes are made on the instrument, increase operational safety and ensure greater safety for your process. The instrument is available with a 110 – 240 V AC (–15 %/+10 %), 48 – 63 Hz or 20 – 30 V AC/DC, 48 – 63 Hz power supply.
