My New Year’s resolution last year was to get myself more organized in my paperwork and in my life. I share this with you as I sit typing at my desk which has way too much paperwork and clutter on it. Clearly, I have failed another
resolution.
Last year I got as far as purchasing containers to help me organize. The shopping part of the resolution I liked, but the actual act of organizing failed. Why? Because I find organizing to be one of the most boring activities on the
planet, so I lost interest. My empty containers sit in the corner of my office, a nagging reminder of yet another failed New Year’s resolution.
My resolutions are always destined to fail because I set resolutions that are in some way a form of punishment for some personal shortcoming. My resolutions are
typically about correcting traits that I don’t like in myself. I think many popular New Year’s resolutions involve people resolving to give up a bad habit or start a healthy one, because they recognize a personal imperfection and want to correct it. Most of us don’t follow through on these self-correcting resolutions.
Perhaps part of the problem with resolutions is the inward attempts at personal betterment. There isn’t anything wrong with trying to make ourselves better, but maybe if we focus our resolutions on outward goals, we might have more success. Instead of doing things to make ourselves better, we should be committing to something that helps the world and makes the world a better place. Let’s face it, the world needs everyone’s help.
In the big scheme of things, I am just one person and it seems doubtful that “little old me” could do anything that would possibly impact the world. Yet, the world is made up of a bunch of “little old me’s.” If we all resolve, in the coming New Year, to perform small, kind acts everyday towards our fellow man, the combined collective of selfless acts could have a global impact. If we all direct our energies on outwardly contributing to the world in small ways everyday, it could bring us that much closer to peace and ultimately make us all better people.
Here is my official 2010 New Year’s resolution: I resolve to help my fellow man, every day. In big ways and in small, I will lend a hand, not only to my loved ones, but to strangers on the streets. My mantra for 2010 will be, “How can I
help you?”

Mike Shedlock has a post on the oil tanker storage situation, with futures prices indicating that the days of storing oil at sea while waiting for future prices rises seem to be coming to an end – 26 Mile Long Glut Of Idle Oil Tankers.
Bloomberg is reporting Tanker Glut Signals 25% Drop on 26-Mile Line of Ships.
A 26-mile-long line of idled oil tankers, enough to blockade the English Channel, may signal a 25 percent slump in freight rates next year.
The ships will unload 26 percent of the crude and oil products they are storing in six months, adding to vessel supply and pushing rates for supertankers down to an average of $30,000 a day next year, compared with $40,212 now, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg News survey of 15 analysts, traders and shipbrokers.
That’s below what Frontline Ltd., the biggest operator of the ships, says it needs to break even.
Traders booked a record number of ships for storage this year, seeking to profit from longer-dated energy futures trading at a premium to contracts for immediate delivery, according to SSY Consultancy & Research Ltd., a unit of the world’s second- largest shipbroker. Ships taken out of that trade would return to compete for cargoes just as deliveries from shipyards’ largest-ever order book swell the global fleet.
“The tanker market has been defying gravity,” said Martin Stopford, a London-based director at Clarkson Plc, the world’s largest shipbroker. Stopford has covered shipping since 1971.
More than half of the ships are in European waters, with the rest spread out across Asia, the U.S. and West Africa. Lined up end to end, they would stretch for about 26 miles.
Storing Crude
Traders are storing enough crude at sea to supply the 27- nation European Union for more than three days. Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Europe’s biggest oil company; London-based BP Plc; JPMorgan Chase & Co.; and Morgan Stanley were among those that sought vessels for storage.
The storage trade is profitable so long as the spread between energy contracts exceeds ship rental, insurance and financing costs. A year ago, the spread between the first and sixth Brent crude-oil contracts traded on the London-based ICE Futures Europe exchange was 23 percent. Now, it’s 4 percent.
Speculation is one of the things propping up energy prices. Belief in a sustainable recovery is another, and rampant money supply growth in China is a third.
Regardless, with contango spreads tightening, demand for 26 miles of oil tankers will collapse.
The present digital age, when less time and more gadgets are available, has the perfect conditions to favor distracted driving, a problem which has unfortunately become a part of our daily motoring life.
The American government is using a modern, non-sanctioning approach to solve this problem: the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has created a website entitled distraction.gov.
If you browse it, you will become aware of the facts and figures which could… (read more)

but, I am!! Matt and I have just found out that we’re expecting. We’re not very far along, so I didn’t really want to say anything yet, but I need some help.
Apparently Levermir hasn’t been tested enough yet in pregnant women to know if its safe for baby, so I’ve been switched back to Protophane (NPH)… so far I’m on day 2, and I hate it. I was having major lows, but now I’m just all over the place. In one hour today, I went from 4.0 (72) to 27.3 (491). The slightest touch of novorapid, and I hypo, but without it, I stay high.
Does anyone have any suggestions, apart from testing hourly? (which, btw, I’m already doing!). We want our baby to arrive safe and sound!!
Oh also… PLEASE don’t post anything about this on facebook, to those of u on my friend list… a lot of our family and friends don’t know yet!!

Looks like AT&T is about to get a version of the LG Arena — these shots of a GT950 with the carrier’s branding just hit the tubes. The phone hasn’t been officially announced by either AT&T or LG, but the safe bet is that the 950 is just a bespoke variant of the familiar Arena KM900, so look for a three-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen with LG’s S-Class UI, a five megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, and 8GB of storage. We’ll have to see whether this hits at CES next week or MWC in February — but until then you can get a feel for this thing by checking out our KM900 hands-on video right here.
Bothered by baldness? There’s an organization for you! It’s called the Bald Headed Men of America and it’s open to “qualified” persons who have lost their hair.
Founded in 1974 by John T. Capps III, this special club is based in North Carolina and boasts of over 200,000 members. Club members believe “the best cure for bald headed men is to laugh about it, promote it, flaunt it, and remind others that the Lord made millions and millions of heads and those He didn’t like, He covered up.”
A lot of bald headed people appear to be taking that advice pretty well. In Hollywood, for instance, celebrities like Sean Connery, Patrick Stewart, and Bruce Willis ooze with sex appeal and continue to make blockbuster movies in spite of their lost hair.
For most people, however, baldness is a hair-raising problem that currently affects 40 million men and 20 million women in the United States alone. Few are prepared to part with their crowning glory and that has made anti-baldness schemes a $1 billion-a-year industry. The reason for this thriving industry is simple. A US study says men feel less attractive when they start losing hair. Bald people are generally seen as less alluring and look older than they really are which explains why people will do anything to hold onto their hair.
The sudden loss of hair can be very distressing since some men associate a full head of hair with virility and youth. So if their hairline recedes, they may feel robbed of their youth and masculinity.
The importance of hair was evident even in Biblical times where it was considered the seat of a person’s physical and moral strength. In Judges 16:17, Samson told Delilah that his strength came from his hair and “if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I will become weak.”
In Second Samuel 14:25-26, Absalom was praised for his beauty, especially his fair complexion and thick hair. Whenever he cut his hair every year, it weighed 200 shekels or as heavy as the king himself.
Famous saints associated with hair are Martin de Porres, a favorite of Italian hairdressers, and the twin brothers Cosmas and Damian. These examples show that hair was valued more than any other part of the body.
That same concern can be seen today. Many people spend hours cleaning, cutting, styling and “nourishing” their hair with various substances – all in an attempt to preserve it and make it attractive. What they don’t know is that hair is a dead structure and most of what is applied to it has little or no effect at all.
Hair is made of keratin, a protein found in nails and the outer layer of the skin. The part that rises out of the skin is called the hair shaft. The average head normally contains about 100,000 hairs, with brunettes having as much as 155,000 hairs and redheads, 85,000 hairs.
The living part of the hair is the hair root which is found beneath the skin. This is the part that grows and pushes the dead hair shaft out of the skin. Surrounding each hair root is the hair follicle. The number of hair follicles is determined before birth and this, in turn, determines the number of hairs a person will have. The two types of hair are terminal, meaning very long, thick and easily visible hair; and vellus or tiny, fine, almost unnoticeable hair.
Each hair follicle undergoes repeated cycles of active growth and rest. The three stages in the follicular cycle are the anagen or growth phase, the catagen or transition phase, and the telogen or resting phase during which hair is shed.
On a normal adult scalp, 80 – 95 percent of hair follicles are in the anagen phase while the remainder is in the telogen phase. The catagen phase which runs for 3 – 4 weeks affects less than one percent of hair.
When hair falls off faster than it is replaced, that’s when baldness begins. This can either be temporary or permanent. In any case, baldness can make you less attractive and older than you really are. That’s why it’s important to care for your hair. To complement your hair, don’t forget to care for your face too. You can do this with the help of Dermaxin, a popular skin cream that contains special ingredients to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by as much as 45 percent. Dermaxin repairs and rejuvenates the skin so you’ll look young, fresh, and wrinkle-free! It’s your best defense against the signs of aging. Check out http://www.dermaxin.com for more information.

To treat hair loss naturally, there are some important factors that a consumer should bear in mind. Of course, proper hair care is still the primary way to lessen hair loss and this entails using natural products.
Vitamins and Minerals For Hair Growth Herbal and seed products that can be used to treat one´s hair have different vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids that can be beneficial in maintaining and treating the hair´s condition. These remedies are natural so side effects caused by chemical products are avoided. It is therefore helpful to know what benefits one can get from a certain natural hair loss remedy available in the market, particularly the ingredients used in this product.
Polyphenol To begin, green apples contain this compound called polyphenol which is effective in fighting against the so-called hormone-induced male-pattern baldness. Research has shown that extract from green apple is good for nourishing the growth of new hair.
Omega 3 Second, Omega 3 improves the growth of hair. Research reveals that Omega 3 contained in marine oils, grass-fed cattle, and free-range hens are rich in anti-inflammatory agents improving hair.
Ginger Third, Ginger extracts stimulates hair follicles, promotes hair growth, and prevents hair from becoming thin. Ginger extracts are usually used in shampoos and conditioners.
Rosemary and Capsicum Fourth, Rosemary and capsicum have been used as effective hair growers. Rosemary fights dandruff by removing sebum on the scalp while capsicum improves scalp blood circulation. Findings show that these two ingredients can help hair grow by 50-80 percent.
Rosemary particularly has been widely accepted as a potent ingredient in preventing hair loss. Its name believed to be of Latin origin is translated as “dew of the sea” which thrives in salty, calcium-rich soils of dry coastal areas. It has been used primarily as a hair-conditioning ingredient. Rosemary prevents hair loss by strengthening hair roots, supporting follicles, eliminating dandruff and cleaning the scalp for impurities.
Saw Palmetto Fifth, Saw Palmetto extract is an effective anti-androgen which is used to treat hair loss. This natural ingredient lowers the level of DHT which causes androgenetic alopecia although women with hormonal problems are cautioned not to take products with this ingredient.
Nettle Root Sixth, Nettle root extract is a rich source of vitamins A and C which are primary minerals of lipids beneficial to the hair. According to European studies, this ingredient inhibits 5-alpha reductase.
Jojoba Oil Seventh, Jojoba oil has been used in Mexico for a very long time and has been found effective in treating skin problems like eczema, psoriasis, and dandruff. It is used to promote the growth of hair and imitates the scalp sebum making it a good moisturizer.
Aloe Vera Eight, Aloe Vera helps promotes healthy hair and balances the scalp´s pH level and at the same time, this ingredient also cleans the pores of the scalp. And finally, Henna is an herb that helps seal the hair´s cuticle protecting it against breakage and loss of shine.
All of these ingredients are natural and can be used as ingredients in commercially manufactured shampoos and conditioners. A consumer concerned about his or her hair need only to look at the composition of their hair care products to see if indeed the ingredients are all natural and uses any of the mentioned natural ingredients.
Natural hair loss treatment supplement have shown the best result to help its users stop the hair drop and re grow their hair back. Hair loss products like Provillus and Procerin contain same essential Minerals and herb, such as : Saw Palmetto,Vitamin B-6,Biotin,Muira Puma Root, Pumpkin Seed.
The most obvious and noticeable part of the human hair is the hair on the head, which contributes a lot to a person’s good looks and beauty, and so the lack of it, or loss of it is always a source of distress to the person. Hair is an outgrowth that emerges from the follicles of the head and there are as much as 1 lakh follicles on the head. It is from these follicles that hair roots emerge .A single hair grows from one such hair root, and grows longer to a shaft, which is visible. The black color of the hair is due to a pigment called melanin, which is stored in a bulb found in the lower part of the hair follicle. One strand of normal hair looks so thin, yet it is very strong since it is made up of a protein called keratin. The hair that grows once is not permanent. It is shed periodically. There is a growth cycle and so it is normal for everybody to lose up to 50-100 hairs per day, which then are replaced by new ones. Actually at a time, about 10 percent of the hair on the scalp is in a resting phase while the other 90% is in growing stage. The hair in the resting stage falls off, once in every 2-3 months, only to be replaced by new ones. This growing phase lasts for 2 to 6 years and during this phase, each hair grows approximately 1 centimeter per month. If a person loses more hair than its growth and this loss is more than 50- 100 strands per day, the person is said to be suffering from hair loss. The disruption in the normal growth cycle of hair will lead to hair loss.
Hair Loss: Hair loss can be caused by a variety of conditions ranging from sudden stress (caused by illness), certain types of medications (like those given in treatment of gout, arthritis, anticoagulants, and also during chemotherapy for cancer treatment), hormonal imbalances (like hyper or hypothyroidism caused by overactive or under active thyroid gland, or in case of imbalance of sexual hormones like androgens in males and estrogens in females2), poor nutrition, (also causes hair loss as the body is not getting enough proteins or vitamins needed for growth), fungal infection of the scalp( like psoriasis) , male pattern baldness3,( which is an inherited trait is the most common cause of hair loss in men.) Men who start losing their hair at an early age tend to develop more extensive baldness. In male-pattern baldness, hair loss typically results in a receding hairline and baldness on the top of the head. Women may also develop female-pattern baldness. In this form of hair loss, the hair becomes thin over the entire scalp. Alopecia areata is the development of bald patches on the scalp, beard, and, possibly, eyebrows. Eyelashes may also fall out. This condition is attributed to an immune disorder. Tinea capitis (ringworm of the scalp) is another reason for hair loss. Finally, hair loss is also due to diseases (like lupus, diabetes).. But sometimes hair loss may occur out of sheer negligence and improper care of hair, even without any of these above mentioned problems. It can occur when lot of pressure is exerted on the scalp (by tying extra tight pigtails), or by excessive chemicals and hot oil –treatment used during perming. Such rough practices damage the hair follicles, which leads to hair loss.
So the underlying problem causing hair loss must be detected and treated accordingly. People experiencing hair loss must seek medical help from a dermatologist, so that the doctor can perform tests and investigate the cause. Blood tests will reveal hormone deficiencies like that of thyroid gland, estrogen or androgens. If a problem is detected, the doctor prescribes the synthetic hormone and thus hair loss can be controlled. In case of male pattern baldness, medicines may help in slowing down or preventing the development of common baldness. The most common one is, minoxidil (brand name: Rogaine), which is available even without a prescription. It has to be applied to the scalp and can be used by both men and women. However, another medicine, finasteride (brand name: Propecia) is available only with a prescription. It comes in the form of pills and can be taken by men only. Alopecia areata if treated early, can be treated with steroids injections like triamcinolone into the area. The other factors causing hair loss can be determined by the doctor by asking the patient a lot of questions to find out about his diet, family history and also his recent condition. . In cases of stress and illness hair loss is often temporary and hair will start growing once the body attains normalcy. In case hair loss is attributed due to a fungus or ringworm infection, antifungal preparations are given. The ultimate desperate measure one can take if no treatment arrests hair loss, is trying out different hairstyles or wigs, hairpieces, hair weaves or artificial hair replacement. This is also called hair transplantation, which has become more common over the years. During a hair transplant, healthy hairs are harvested from an area of the scalp with normal hair growth and then these individual hairs are then placed into areas of hair loss. The transplanted hair looks very natural if the procedure is done with dexterity.

Examiner: Does the International Panel on Climate Change [IPCC] have it all wrong?
Singer: The Panel was established by members of the United Nations with an assortment of political objectives in mind. Hundreds of scientists are doing commendable research and they have contributed to many of the Working Group reports, but they don’t participate in writing the final “Summary for Policymakers” that gets all the attention of media and national leaders. The IPCC procedure actually requires the Working Group reports to conform with the political conclusions of the Summary, written and negotiated by a group of U.N. politicians.
No doubt, there are some scientists who want to collect large government grants for studying climate. The recent release of emails from the East Anglia University’s Climate Research Unit suggests that some of them want to provide their employers with an unjustified political consensus that serves their purposes.
Thousands of competent scientists who have scrutinized the IPCC reports agree that many of the conclusions are unsupported by the scientific evidence. Many IPCC reviewers have publicly rejected the Summary’s conclusions. In my opinion, every good scientist is a skeptic. Humans don’t dictate facts to nature. As our knowledge of global climate improves, we may discover that all of the popular assumptions are wrong.
According to the authorities Luster has been found in giving drugs and physically attacked on these women for sex. But it is true that women could never come to know that what had happened if Andrew has not recorded it all on the tape and he literally made his own tape.
Andrew Luster belongs to the line of the very lustrous family of cosmetic giant Max Factor, who founded the Max Factor cosmetic brand. He was convicted of serial rape charges in 2003. Two to three weeks before he was to go on trial, on January 2003, Luster had fled the country. He was declared a fugitive by the law, and the judges ruled that Luster would go on trial even in his absence.
On January 22, after 2 days of speculation and deliberation on the case, without Luster’s presence, the jury found him guilty of 86 of the 87 charges he had been indicted with. His conviction fetched him a total of 124 years in the prison. He was caught in Mexico by Doug “Dog” Chapman.
The truth about Luster came to light when he had used the GHB (date rape drug) on one of his unsuspecting victims called Carrie and admitted to her about giving her the drug. Detectives caught him using Carrie as a bait and discovered his other victims from the tapes found in his beach house.
