{"id":104490,"date":"2009-12-27T00:15:08","date_gmt":"2009-12-27T05:15:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gigaom.wordpress.com\/?p=88265"},"modified":"2009-12-27T00:15:08","modified_gmt":"2009-12-27T05:15:08","slug":"android-iphone-the-freelance-nation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/104490","title":{"rendered":"Android, iPhone &amp; the Freelance Nation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class='snap_preview'><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s no question that 2010 <a href=\"http:\/\/gigaom.com\/2009\/11\/27\/why-pc-makers-will-make-android-king\/\">is going to be a big year<\/a> for Google&#8217;s Android operating system, which means it&#8217;s also going to be competing with Apple&#8217;s iPhone for developer attention next year. Apple&#8217;s iPhone ecosystem so far has an advantage. <a href=\"http:\/\/gigaom.com\/2009\/12\/15\/the-problem-with-android-markets-growth\/\">Google has some teething problems it needs to resolve.<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The competition between these two ecosystems is what prompted me to ask Menlo Park, Calif.-based startup <a href=\"http:\/\/odesk.com\">oDesk<\/a> for a historical comparison of the number of iPhone and Android jobs listed on its marketplace. oDesk is a marketplace that connects <a href=\"http:\/\/gigaom.com\/2009\/12\/16\/odesk-freelancers-the-future-of-work\/\">freelance developers (and others) with those with jobs for them<\/a>. I thought it could be a rough indicator of developer interest in the two platforms. oDesk obliged. According to its data, there&#8217;s been a slight uptick in the number of Android jobs. iPhone seems to be holding its own.
