{"id":109750,"date":"2009-12-28T23:34:16","date_gmt":"2009-12-29T04:34:16","guid":{"rendered":"tag:www.vegan-food.net:\/\/4f9b5e8d955bb84feed6345318ffbaef"},"modified":"2009-12-28T23:34:16","modified_gmt":"2009-12-29T04:34:16","slug":"zuppa-di-cipolle-italian-onion-soup-soup-vegetable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/109750","title":{"rendered":"Zuppa Di Cipolle (Italian Onion Soup)( Soup &#8211; Vegetable )"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Daily Random Recipe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>INGREDIENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>465 grams \/ 1 pound onions, sliced very thinly<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon unrefined sugar or maple syrup<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>8 cups hot water<\/li>\n<li>6 vegetable stock cubes (enough for 6 cups water)<\/li>\n<li>4 teaspoons vegemite, yeast extract or dark miso<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons soy sauce<\/li>\n<li>2\/3 cup marsala, dry sherry, medeira, or sauterne (or any drinkable red wine)<\/li>\n<li>Freshly ground white pepper, to taste (or black pepper if desired)<\/li>\n<li>6 thick slices of rustic italian bread, toasted<\/li>\n<li>Soy parmesan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p \/><strong>METHOD:<\/strong><br \/>In a large, heavy pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add the onions and saute until they become tender and start to brown, stirring often and adding a little water from time to time if they start to cook. Add the sugar and salt and stir briefly. Add the water, stock cubes, vegemite\/miso and soy sauce. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p \/>\nAdd the wine and simmer uncovered for about 5 minutes. Taste for seasoning and add white pepper to taste. Place a piece of toast in each soup bowl and ladle soup over it.
