Some of the blogs are even written by medical professionals.<\/p>\n<p>One example is the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayoclinic.com\/health\/quit-smoking\/MY00433\/TAB=expertblog\">Quit Smoking Blog<\/a><\/strong> at Mayo Clinic, written by Jennifer Kern, a behavioral counselor. She recently wrote an insightful post about <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayoclinic.com\/health\/quit-smoking-blog\/MY01019\">Learning to be a non-smoker<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re into the iPhone, check out <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.quitsmokingcounter.com\/blog\/2009\/06\/26\/iquit-stop-smoking-counter-for-iphone\/\">iQuit<\/a>.<\/strong> The handy app measures several things for you, including length of time you&#8217;ve <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blisstree.com\/articles\/which-is-worse-depression-or-smoking\/\">stopped smoking<\/a>, money saved by not smoking and (most importantly) the living time you&#8217;ve gained!<\/p>\n<p>There are lots of expensive stop smoking aids on the market, but most advice is free. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smokefree.gov\/\">Smokefree.gov<\/a><\/strong> offers an <strong>online quit guide<\/strong>. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smokefree.gov\/qg-index.aspx\">free quit guide<\/a> includes steps you can take on quit day, help with managing cravings and what to do if you slip, as well as many other resources.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Major reasons to quit smoking<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blisstree.com\/articles\/quit-smoking-control-weight-at-once\/\">Smoking<\/a> causes heart disease, emphysema and lung cancer. And it costs a lot of money. Did you know that smoking also increases risk for blindness? According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webmd.com\/smoking-cessation\/features\/10-overlooked-reasons-to-quit-smoking?page=2\">WebMD<\/a>, those who smoke are four times more likely to develop blindness due to <strong>age-related macular degeneration<\/strong>.
