Australians travelling to the United States should arrive at the
\nairport one hour early to allow for body searches introduced in the
\nwake of an airline bomb scare on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n

New security measures introduced by the US Transport Security
\nAdministration for all flights into the US include pat-down searches at
\nthe airport gate, physical inspection of all bags and requiring
\npassengers to stay in their seats without access to any personal items
\nor overhead lockers for the final hour before landing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important that travellers travelling to the US get
\nto the airport one hour earlier than they would otherwise,\u201d
\nFederal Transport Minister Anthony Albanese said today.<\/p>\n

The restrictions will be reassessed by US authorities before they expire on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
