A few years ago, I accepted global warming theory with few doubts. I wrote several columns for this paper condemning <\/a>what I thought were unfair<\/a> attacks by skeptics and defending<\/a> the climate scientists.<\/p>\n

Boy, was I naive.<\/p>\n

Since the Climategate emails and documents revealed active collusion to thwart skeptics and even outright fraud<\/a>,
\nI\u2019ve been trying to correct the record of my earlier foolishness.
\nIn one of those columns, I even wrote: \u201cAnd see Real Climate
\n(www.realclimate.org) for global warming science without the political
\nspin.\u201d<\/p>\n

In fact, Real Climate was and is nothing more than the house organ of global warming activists<\/a>, concerned more with politics than with science.<\/p>\n

My mistake was assuming only the purest of motives of the global
\nwarming alarmists, while assuming the worst of the skeptics. In fact,
\nthe soi-disant moralists of the global warming movement can also exploit their agenda for profit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Climategate jolted me into confronting the massive fraud and
\ndeception by top global warming scientists, who were in a position to
\ntwist the peer-review process in their favor, and did so shamelessly<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Yet still most media reports desperately minimize Climategate,
\nsaying that it doesn\u2019t taint the massive research supporting
\nglobal warming theory. To them I say, how do you know that? Have you
\ninvestigated how much of that research was published due to the
\nmanipulation of these unethical and fraudulent scientists? Do you know
\nhow much research that goes against the global warming activist claims
\nwas unfairly suppressed?<\/p>\n

Until all this is known, it\u2019s not possible to say with any
\nconfidence how much of global warming theory will remain after all the
\nfraud and deceit has been removed. And until climate science is cleaned
\nup, it doesn\u2019t deserve the worship so many in the media
\nunthinkingly give its tainted practitioners.<\/p>\n
