{"id":113540,"date":"2009-12-30T02:38:06","date_gmt":"2009-12-30T07:38:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.popcrunch.com\/?p=86207"},"modified":"2009-12-30T02:38:06","modified_gmt":"2009-12-30T07:38:06","slug":"letterman-extortionist-uses-tiger-woods-defense","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/113540","title":{"rendered":"Letterman Extortionist Uses Tiger Woods Defense"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s the old Tiger Defense: The TV producer accused of shaking down David Letterman about his affairs with <em>Late Show<\/em> employees is drawing on the Tiger Woods sex scandal as part of his defense.<\/p>\n<p>In court papers filed Tuesday in Manhattan, an attorney for former <em>48 Hours<\/em> producer Robert \u201cJoe\u201d Halderman cites published reports that Woods paid an alleged mistress to remain silent.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.popcrunch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Robert-Joe-Halderman-Uses-Tiger-Woods-Defense.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Robert Joe Halderman Uses Tiger Woods Defense\" width=\"469\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-86208\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-86207\"><\/span><br \/>\nHalderman&#8217;s lawyer said his client simply had valuable information and wanted to get paid for it  in the same manner that several women involved in the Woods sex scandal have been.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Uchitel, Allred and (wife Elin)Nordegrin are being prosecuted because they acted in accordance with a set of basic commercial realities; their behavior was capitalist, not criminal,&#8221;<\/em> Halderman&#8217;s legal team says in the court documents.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors accuse Halderman, 52, of trying to shake down the married late night comic for $2 million to keep embarrassing info about the late night comic\u2019s personal life private. The producer was previously romantically-linked to one of Letterman&#8217;s former mistresses.
