US citizen David Headley, who was arrested in connection with last
\nyear\u2019s Mumbai terrorist attacks, may have been a double agent for
\nthe CIA at the time of the incident, according to US journalists.<\/p>\n

More than 160 people were killed in the financial hub of Mumbai in
\nthree days of attacks by a group of 10 gunmen, beginning on November
\n26, 2008.<\/p>\n

Headley had allegedly helped plan the attack by conducting reconnaissance missions in Mumbai.<\/p>\n

More than two months after Pakistani-American jihadist David Headley
\nwas held in Chicago, India\u2019s intelligence services are divided on
\nwhether they were told the whole truth about the Lashkar-e-Taiba
\nclandestine agent\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n

Many in the intelligence services even suspect that the United
\nStates is less than committed to letting the whole truth be known.<\/p>\n

Public debate has focused on claims that Headley\u2014who served as
\na Drug Enforcement Administration informant after being arrested with
\ntwo kg of heroin in 1988\u2014may have been planted by US covert
\nservices inside Lashkar after his release in 2002.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf this David Headley was working for the CIA all along, which is a very plausible conclusion,\u201d<\/em> says writer and journalist Webster Tarpley, \u201cIt means that the CIA implicated and was running and masterminding the Mumbai terror attack of 2008.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
