‘A new research has
\ndetermined that Earth’s north magnetic pole is racing toward Russia at
\nalmost 40 miles (64 kilometers) a year due to magnetic changes in the
\nplanet’s core. The core is too deep for scientists to directly detect
\nits magnetic field. But researchers can infer the field’s movements by
\ntracking how Earth’s magnetic field has been changing at the surface
\nand in space. <\/font><\/p>\n

Now, according to a
\nreport in National Geographic News, newly analyzed data suggest that
\nthere’s a region of rapidly changing magnetism on the core’s surface,
\npossibly being created by a mysterious ‘plume’ of magnetism arising
\nfrom deeper in the core.’<\/font><\/p>\n
