{"id":119923,"date":"2009-12-31T11:40:31","date_gmt":"2009-12-31T16:40:31","guid":{"rendered":"2150"},"modified":"2009-12-31T11:40:31","modified_gmt":"2009-12-31T16:40:31","slug":"family-friendly-fun-rings-in-2010-at-cbc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/119923","title":{"rendered":"Family friendly fun rings in 2010 at CBC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P><HR><\/P><P><A href=\"http:\/\/www.kndu.com\/global\/video\/popup\/pop_playerLaunch.asp?vt1=v&amp;clipFormat=flv&amp;clipId1=4418145&amp;at1=News&amp;h1=Celebrating%20New%20Year's%20in%20the%20Tri-Cities&amp;flvUri=&amp;partnerclipid=\" ><IMG style=\"MARGIN: 5px 5px 5px 0px\" height=28 alt=\"play  button\" src=\"http:\/\/www.columbiabasin.edu\/images\/1532462192007image_video.jpg\" width=95 align=left border=0><\/A><\/P><P>KNDU TV<BR>&#8220;Celebrating New Years in the Tri-Cities&#8221;<\/P><P><HR><P><\/P><P><SPAN class=heading2>Published Dec. 30, 2009<\/SPAN><BR>By Dori O&#8217;Neal, Tri-City Herald staff writer <\/P><P>It\u0092s not called First Night anymore, but the New Year\u0092s Eve celebration that\u0092s gone on in town for two decades now still provides a hotbed of entertainment for the whole family.<\/P><P>Now called New Year\u0092s Tri-Cities, the fun starts at 5:30 p.m. at Columbia Basin College in Pasco.<\/P><P>\u0093New Year\u0092s Tri-Cities offers something for everyone,\u0094 said Parker Hodge, the vice president of entertainment and production for the organization. <\/P><P>Though Vocal Trash has been the headline act for the past few years, NYTC switched to a different music headliner this year because they heard enough comments from supporters that they wanted something new and different, Hodge added.<\/P><P>\u0093After reviewing about a dozen headliner finalists, we felt Gloriana offered a pop-country style of music we hadn\u0092t showcased at the event before,\u0094 he said. \u0093The group is also very popular with the 18- to 34-year-old crowd, which is a demographic we\u0092ve tried to target the last several years.\u0094<\/P><P>Gloriana was recently named breakthrough artist of the year award at MTV\u0092s 2009 American Music Awards. They\u0092ll perform two concerts, one at 7:30 and another at 10:45 p.m.<\/P><P>Comedian Brad Upton also returns for another appearance. Upton, who grew up in the Tri-Cities, performed his Home for the Holidays show last month at the Three Rivers Convention Center. Upton\u0092s comedy show, which is family friendly, will be at 6:45 and 8:15 p.m.<\/P><P>And if those two acts don\u0092t entice you to get out of the house on New Year\u0092s Eve, then maybe all the other entertainers schedule to appear along with the big fireworks show at midnight will do the trick.<\/P><P>Other performers include The Gothard Sisters Irish fiddle and dance group, Brandon Cash performing his tribute to Johnny Cash show, Jerry Harris hypnotist comedy show, the An Daire Academy of Irish Dance troupe, Diamond Ridge Cloggers show, Highland Drive rock band, El Puerto salsa band, Troupe du Soleil belly dancers, Duct Tape harmony quartet, the Broadway Babes a capella trio, Sugarbush pop rock band, Ernie Lopez acoustic sounds, Desert Winds Flute Choir, Big Top the Clown, Keith Ramsey\u0092s magic show, Wiggle Like a Fish music show for kids, Bram Brata steeldrum band and Debi and Frank Eng will play a mix of jazz and Beatles tunes.<\/P><P>Events are scattered throughout the campus from the lecture halls to the CBC theater to the library or the gym.<\/P><P>You\u0092ll need to buy a New Year\u0092s Tri-Cities button to get in for $10 for ages 13 and older, $3 for ages 6-12 and free to ages 5 and younger. <\/P><P>The button will get you into all the different venues on the campus.
