The journey previously took at least 11 hours [<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/cms\/s\/0\/1eed4d72-f351-11de-a888-00144feab49a.html?nclick_check=1\"><em>Financial Times<\/em><\/a>]. That&#8217;s almost like traveling from New York City to\u00a0Indianapolis\u00a0by train in three hours. Even if you encountered a\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/idUSTRE5BT2KK20091230\">two and a half hour delay<\/a>, which happened to one unlucky load of Harmony riders this week, you&#8217;d still make great time.<\/p>\n<p>See the train in action in the video below:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"embeddedvideo\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"560\" height=\"340\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/DLI1wjzS4ro&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#1c39bb;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\"><span id=\"more-8274\"><\/span>The train will run 56 times per day and the cheapest fare is 490 yuan (roughly $72), however many <a rel=\"nofollow\"  href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/chinarealtime\/2009\/12\/24\/hijacked-by-high-speed-trains\/\">slower trains along the same route will be axed<\/a> to help cover costs. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#1c39bb;\"><span style=\"color:#000000;\">Harmony reached a top speed of 217 miles per hour (350 km per hour) on its debut, bumping off\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.japanrail.com\/index.php?page=JR-Shinkansen-bullet-train\">Japan&#8217;s Shinkansen bullet train<\/a> and\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.trainweb.org\/tgvpages\/tgvindex.html\">France&#8217;s TGV<\/a>, both of which can travel at 186 miles per hour (300 km per hour).
