“Rocket Man” Elton John has revealed that he’s helping rapper pal Eminem cope with substance abuse issues, staying by the “Slim Shady” charttopper’s side as he recovers from an addiction to prescription drugs.<\/p>\n

The “Candle In The Wind” crooner and the reformed homophobe have become firm friends since they performed “Stan” together at the 2001 Grammy Awards.<\/p>\n

Eminem — now 37 — battled a reliance on Ambien, Vicodin and Valium, and Elton has faced his own issues with substance abuse in the past.<\/p>\n

“I’ve been helping Eminem over the last 18 months and he’s doing brilliantly,”<\/em> Sir Elton told The BBC early Saturday. “I’m there if people want my help. If people ask for help you tell them where to go, but there’s no point advising people if they don’t want to do it,”<\/em> the 62-year-old said.<\/p>\n

Last May, Em revealed that he called on Sir Elton when he wanted to get sober.<\/p>\n

“Me and him have had similar lives and stuff,”<\/em> he told The Detroit Metro Times<\/em> at the time. “He understands … the pressure and any other reasons that you want to come up with for doing drugs.”<\/em><\/p>\n
