{"id":133018,"date":"2010-01-03T19:24:28","date_gmt":"2010-01-04T00:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.diabetesforums.com\/forum\/monitoring\/47210-bg-levels.html"},"modified":"2010-01-03T19:24:28","modified_gmt":"2010-01-04T00:24:28","slug":"bg-levels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mereja.media\/index\/133018","title":{"rendered":"BG levels"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Hello friends<\/p>\n<p>I was reading through this website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phlaunt.com\/diabetes\/14045621.php\" >Healthy Blood Sugar Targets<\/a> and came across some figures for BG.<\/p>\n<p>It states the optimum BG levels should be:<\/p>\n<p>Fasting blood sugar under 100 mg\/dl (5.5 mmol\/L) <br \/>\nOne hour after meals  under 140 mg\/dl (7.8 mmol\/L) <br \/>\nTwo hours after meals  under 120 mg\/dl <\/p>\n<p>With a maximum of 140 mg\/dl (7.8 mmol\/L) 2 hours after meals.<\/p>\n<p>Basically states that post-meal blood sugars of 140 mg\/dl (7.8 mmol\/L) and higher and fasting blood sugars over 100 mg\/dl (5.6 mmol\/L) cause permanent organ damage and cause diabetes to progress. <\/p>\n<p>So these are the numbers I am trying for. But I have come to a point that I am confused. The Fasting blood sugar, would this only be in the morning? <\/p>\n<p>Since we are breaking up meals into smaller meals, I eat 6 times per day, so I have breakfest, mid morning snack, lunch, mid afternoon snack, dinner and before bed I have something as well such as tea and crackers. The question is for example with my numbers for today which are the following, am I achieving the optimum levels? Or are these levels blurred because of the overlaping or closeness to each meal?<\/p>\n<p>\u00bawoke @ 9:30: 106 ovbiously over 100 so not optimal.<br \/>\n\u00baLate breakfest, took before reading @ 12:26 with 112 also over 100.<br \/>\n\u00ba2 hours after @ 14:22  had 108 so good, its below the 120.<br \/>\n\u00ba Before Lunch @ 15:04 with 108 and here is where my confusion is as its above 100. But is this considered fasting?<br \/>\n\u00baAfter lunch 2 hours @ 17:04 with 93<br \/>\n\u00baBefore diner @ 21:40 with 110, so again above 100 but I had some cheese and a toast at 19:00 or so. <br \/>\n\u00ba1 hour after dinner @ 126 so below the 140<br \/>\n\u00ba2 hours after dinner @ 89 so below the 120<\/p>\n<p>I hope I can get my point across. This was an odd day today as I woke to take my insulin shot yet stayed in bed with my 2 year old daughter and fell asleep so thats why the late breakfeast, but I usually eat between 9:30-10:00, then snack at 12 or so then we usually eat around 14:30 &#8211; 15:00, snack around 18:00 and dinner at around 21:30 &#8211; 23:00.
