‘In Nineteen Eighty-Four,
\nGeorge Orwell described a superstate called Oceania, whose language of
\nwar inverted lies that \u201cpassed into history and became truth.
\n\u2018Who controls the past\u2019, ran the Party slogan,
\n\u2018controls the future: who controls the present controls the
\npast\u2019.\u201d <\/font><\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

Barack Obama is the
\nleader of a contemporary Oceania. In two speeches at the close of the
\ndecade, the Nobel Peace Prize winner affirmed that peace was no longer
\npeace, but rather a permanent war that \u201cextends well beyond
\nAfghanistan and Pakistan\u201d to \u201cdisorderly regions and
\ndiffuse enemies\u201d. He called this \u201cglobal security\u201d
\nand invited our gratitude. To the people of Afghanistan, which America
\nhas invaded and occupied, he said wittily: \u201cWe have no interest
\nin occupying your country”.’<\/font><\/p>\n
