Iran said on Monday several foreign citizens were
\narrested during clashes between opposition supporters and security
\nforces last month, state television reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeveral foreigners are among those who were
\narrested on the day of Ashura\u2026they were leading a psychological
\nwar against the system\u2026They entered Iran two days before
\nAshura,\u201d Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi told state TV,
\nwithout elaborating on the foreigners\u2019 nationality.<\/p>\n

In Iran\u2019s bloodiest unrest since the aftermath of the disputed
\nJune 12 presidential election, eight people were killed on December 27
\nand at least 40 pro-reform figures, including four senior advisers to
\nopposition leader Mirhossein Mousavi, have been arrested since then.<\/p>\n

Iranian hardline authorities have repeatedly accused the opposition
\nleaders of links to \u201cforeign enemies,\u201d warning that they
\nwill not tolerate any more anti-government protests after the fiery
\ndemonstrations during the Shi\u2019ite ritual of Ashura.<\/p>\n
