Nearly a quarter of boys \u2013 and one in seven girls
\n\u2013 is struggling to learn to talk because thousands of households
\nkeep their TV sets on constantly making it difficult for them to
\nunderstand the speech of adults around them.<\/p>\n

A survey revealed how 22 per cent of boys and 13 per cent of girls have trouble developing speech and understanding others.<\/p>\n

Three per cent suffer \u2019significant\u2019 problems, according
\nto a poll published by Jean Gross, the Government\u2019s
\ncommunications adviser.<\/p>\n

Middle-class children were just as likely to experience problems as youngsters from less affluent families, it emerged.<\/p>\n
